Something is up and out of order! This is why I believe some are having bad installs and some are not. I lot of the same on Apple support forms.

If the kits were signed or checksummed, you wouldn't get a bad install, you'd get an "update package is corrupted" error when you started the update.

I'd be astonished to find out that Apple doesn't automatically detect data corruptions in downloads of its patch files. (And the criminals would be very happy to find out that they would be able to trick people into installing infected updates.)

'64 M20E. DA40 - nice :) All glass?

Gals, this is why the forums have "private messages" - don't make everyone skip over your personal exchanges about your biplanes.

Apparently this update does not fix the "over capacity" problem that a number of us are having with syncing our ipods (and that starting appearing in 10.1 I believe). Apple won't even acknowledge the problem.

If this doesn't prove to all you fanboys that Apple's not the perfect, can do no wrong company you portray them to be ...

Apple can't, or won't even debug the almighty iTunes before the release it on you ...heh!

Incoming Connection Prompt

It is nice to see that they are fixing "bugs", but why don't they fix glaring, major problems? I CONSTANTLY get the "Do you want to all the iTunes app to accept incoming connections" prompt. Despite my clicking Yes many times and iTunes showing up as allowed/green light in my firewall preferences, we keep getting this message! This is very annoying for me and my wife. This happens on 2 different machines and keeps reappearing, the issue never seems to go away. The "codesign" utility in Terminal shows that Apple's digital signature for iTunes.app is invalid which I bet is why I constantly get the message. Please don't tell me to reinstall iTunes, I have done that 2 or 3 times before over the last couple of years to try and resolve this issue and it still comes back. That is not a solution, Apple needs to fix their problem software. I imagine that this happens because they probably never test their machines with the firewall on since it is off by default in OS X. I guess it is the most advanced operation system on the planet unless you change a default preference. What a joke.

Background:
  1. OS X Firewall is ON for my machines
  2. Sharing turned on in iTunes
  3. This has been happening in Leopard, Snow Leopard, and 3 versions of iTunes

Re-downlad iTunes from the Apple site. You do not need to uninstall or delete any files. This procedure fixed the connection prompt for me.

Good Luck

Updated via Software Update. iTunes now crashes on launch.

Crash report attached.

Update: If after using Software Update to update to iTunes 10.1.1, iTunes crashes on launch, download and re-install from the iTunes website.

.

This worked for me!Thanks!

Has anyone noticed that with 10.1/10.1.1 that when you plug in a lightning cable, it doesn't always read it at first. Sometimes I have to unplug it and plug it back in. I have noticed this with 4 devices. 2 iPads and 2 iPhones.

Why are you still on a six year old iTunes release?
