And they didn't even bother changing that horrible salmon-colored icon. That is sorely needed. I simply edited the icon in Pixelmator and made it blue instead.

I also made a replacement icon some time ago that fits Yosemite pretty well, in my opinion. Unfortunately my 'skills' weren't nearly advanced enough to prevent the icon from looking rather crummy at large sizes. I still like this icon conceptually and would actually love it if someone would have another go at it... http://cl.ly/0N031l3i0S1e... anyone?

Awesome. I like to know where I am in a podcast, now I can quickly check the notification centre.

This is a nice addition! Though I could use the control buttons on the keyboard, it makes itunes control more accessible if I am mainly using the trackpad. Notification Center is convenient on the mac so I know how my schedule looks and what the weather will be like at a glance.
I hope though that with a future major OS X update that they add Handoff compatibility between iTunes and the iOS Music app so I can sync the progress on the currently playing song or video.

is it just me or is d/l updates from Apple gotten a lot slower?

212MB.... going on 40 mins now

I'd use notification center more if I knew how to assign it to a button on my Logitech Performance Mouse MX... Any ideas, guys?

PS In the Logitech control panel it's not in the list of things you can choose (like, for example, launchpas). Maybe there is some custom app that launches the notification center...?

Can I use any other software for syncing photo album to iPhone, creating custom ringtones, and to do DFU/updates/restore/backup?
Well, that's kind of the crux of the matter... as you know, the answer is no. So we need iTunes. The problem is that iTunes sucks at being a music player just as the Music app on the iPhone sucks at playing music. We're kind of stuck.

Or better yet take the music and video out of iTunes and have iTunes only be the store just like on iOS.

It does not suck. iTunes on the mac is more powerful than on iOS simply because it has better management of songs and it has queuing capability.

How does iOS's music player "suck" at playing music? It does that job wonderfully. It's all the rest that it doesn't do well that's the problem...

Well this is a bit of a blow to me and my Lyrical app. I hope they don't now reject my app for "duplicated functionality". Though I was first and had my app published since October. And I show lyrics and album artwork, and have Last.fm support.

EDIT: Took a look at it again, and it seems I don't have anything to worry about. iTunes widget is pretty limited in feature set.

yeah taking long..

Same here. But I can live with it.

I've been using iTunes since 2003, and I use pretty much everything in it. The only thing I never liked when they used to have that Genius sidebar with recommendations.

Won't be using the new widget though. Setting a keyboard shortcut to put iTunes upfront works better.
