I love OS Update Day:

Now, to do my Apple Watch. It was funny trying to find a camera w/ my devices out of commission. GoPro to the rescue.

Update all the iThings!

That appears to be a direct quote. Did Apple misspell "iTuns"?

Edit: nevermind. I just did a direct search for it. About 9 different websites used the same misspelled quote, but none of them were from Apple.

This update makes OS X run terribly slow with my 4K monitor on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)! Come on now!!!

A nice change but I still cross my fingers in hopes we get a suite of Apple applications that each have their own function

iBooks
Movies
Shows
Apple Music
iTunes (local music & podcasts)

OS X separated books from iTunes awhile back (although not Audiobooks). Separating Movies and TV seems a bit excessive IMO. I want iTunes's functionalities to be split into 6 apps:
  1. Apple Music: For streaming music. There should be a button of some sort to launch Music
  2. Apple TV: For streaming/renting movies and TV shows. There should be a button of some sort to launch Videos
  3. Music: For purchased and/or downloaded music, with a dedicated store to purchase music
  4. Videos: For purchased and/or downloaded movies, TV shows, and music video, with a dedicated store
  5. Podcasts
  6. iBooks: Audiobooks will move to iBooks
As for managing iPhone and iPad, iOS 10 should let the devices themselves be the dashboard for syncing contents from connected Mac, as well as initiating backup.

Ffs what have they done to the media picker. Now it takes two clicks to switch between categories. How are Apple being so useless?

The scary part is that based on their description of the update, I feel like they think this is a solution to fixing all the iTunes complaints. I mean, look at the line about the media picker:

Now enjoy all of your music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and more in a simpler design.

Navigation. Now you can use Back and Forward buttons as you navigate between your Library, Apple Music, iTunes Store, and more.

Media Picker. Easily switch between Music, Movies, TV shows and more--and Edit to choose just the items you want.

Library and Playlists. Use Sidebar to view your Library in new ways. Drag and drop songs to easily add them to Playlists. And Edit Sidebar to show only your favorite views.

Menus. Menus in iTuns are now simpler and easier to use. Use the View menu to customize your Library or try context menus to act on specific items.

That's way too many apps! It will never happen. If anything it will be Books, Videos, Music. 3 separate apps, no more. We already have iBooks, so take TV Shows and Movies out of iTunes and give them their own app, then keep iTunes Audio only and we're good to go.

Great to see the sidebar back again. Feels like iTunes has just been "fixed". However, they are promoting Apple Music throughout with a "Start Station" option that prompts you to join the party if you're not subscribed. And the "Start Genius" menu item, which I found oh-so-awesome with my own music files, seems to be gone or buried. One step forward, one step back.
