OS X separated books from iTunes awhile back (although not Audiobooks). Separating Movies and TV seems a bit excessive IMO. I want iTunes's functionalities to be split into 6 apps:
As for managing iPhone and iPad, iOS 10 should let the devices themselves be the dashboard for syncing contents from connected Mac, as well as initiating backup.
- Apple Music: For streaming music. There should be a button of some sort to launch Music
- Apple TV: For streaming/renting movies and TV shows. There should be a button of some sort to launch Videos
- Music: For purchased and/or downloaded music, with a dedicated store to purchase music
- Videos: For purchased and/or downloaded movies, TV shows, and music video, with a dedicated store
- Podcasts
- iBooks: Audiobooks will move to iBooks
is the sidebar always there??
rude.
This update makes OS X run terribly slow with my 4K monitor on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)! Come on now!!!
I know. No need to get fussy over one little feature like this. Heck, I just hidden it by default just a second ago because it's worthless to me. Everyone else could've done the opposite beforehand.Sidebar is hide-able, just like on 12.x. Cmd+Option+S will show/hide the sidebar. Not sure what all the fuss around the sidebar is been for, since it was still there, just not visible by default.
Yes, you're right. But if I recall correctly Apple introducing slight changes in the Music app UI in iOS in some iOS 8 incremental updates, before the Apple music overhaul.

A nice change but I still cross my fingers in hopes we get a suite of Apple applications that each have their own function

Apple Music
iTunes (local music & podcasts)
No, please no. I don't care if my music is local or not when I want to listen to something. It would be completely illogical to have to open separate apps for those situations.
The amount of non Apple lovers is much higher these days. Those of us who waited in line for 10.2 Jaguar outside of Apple Stores and owned pre-Intel Macs are such a small amount of the majority of Apple customers today.
have a look in the updates section of the Mac App Store. That's where my update appearedNothing here on El Cap. 12.3.3 is the "current version"
just click on the For You, New or Radio tabs next to the media picker, same as beforeMaybe a dumb question, but how do I access just Apple Music? I'm a subscriber but as far as I can tell, all links take me to the store..
I don't like these constant "tweaks"; just makes it harder to use the software since you have to get used to it again.
