You might as well use Bonjour in iChat, it provides the same functionality and more.

Has anyone else noticed that Quicktime 7.0 (final) for Windows is now available?

Figures. I downloaded beta two yesterday. :p

Well I'm on my way home to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Think I will stop off at Starbucks and grab a frap so I can slurp and download. After reading some of the posts here I think I'm going to dump my tracks up to my home server before I install...hmmm

Good point, although you could still use an IM client.

I've looked around the iTunes package and I couldn't find any files for Interface Builds (.nibs I believe). Anyone had any clue where they're storing this information?

Hmm - I dont rate it much - and it will not go full screen on my powerbook 12inch! Damn edge on the rhs how annoying. Other than that I dont like seeing my podcasts in my library either!

I like the new look, it feel much cleaner and more spacious...also, I am sure that people noticed that there is support all over the place for video, although I am not assuming that this had anything to do with video iPod (yet), but I guess more to do with the music video support.

I miss 4.9 already. Installing 5.0 got all f***d up (windows...). Tried restore but to no avail. iTunes cant start anymore (as quicktime). Reinstalled but same same... i am freaking dudes. Anyone? :(

I like the new design. I think some of you guys need to give it some time, like all UI changes. It could be worse... it could be back to... stripes!

Not as exiting as I wanted iTunes 5. No real new features. Woo for the folder tho!

I love the look of the mini-controller. :p

That was the first thing I saw, since the last time I had iTunes open it was miniaturized. That definitely didn't kick this whole thing off to a good start.

Did you try resizing the miniplayer window - it jumps between full out with the display onscreen and in with it not showing. No inbetween. The grab handle is therefore no longer under the mouse pointer.

I can't remember if iTunes4 did that also but it's horrible.

First impressions are nice - I like the new look, but what the hell is the volume slider doing allllllll the way over there?!

I'm shocked but not surprised that the iTunes visualiser STILL only goes to full screen in (allbeit "stretched") 640*480 resolution. Shocking. My native resolution is 1680*1050 - and I own the smallest monitor Apple maker! C'mon guys!

Also, I was thinking how maybe, just maybe, they should've delayed Tiger until... Late September? 10.4.3 is about to come out with around about 400 updates. 400!! That just means that 10.4.0 was further from completion than all other 10.x.0's. iTunes now looks good and new, but it didn't when Tiger came out. If they'd update the look of safari and a couple of other iApps, then released a far more bug free Tiger, I think we'd have appreciated the wait - although we'd have never known...

Where's the visual browsing

I have been waiting forever for this. I want to be able to browse by CD album cover, Their all in there, come on iTunes, this would be simple to do!

Yeah it is pretty obvious that video will be fully integrated with 5.. not really sure how it will work.. considering itunes doesnt deal with photos... why would it deal with videos.. seems a little disjointed? Perhaps they need an all new ipod app which will take your photos from iphoto, music from itunes and movies from imovie and put them all on your ipod...

Just tried the crossfade set to zero trick with iTunes 5, and it doesn't work. There's still a gap -- perhaps only a quarter-second or so, but definitely audible. This doesn't particularly bother me, but for those of you who do care, you can continue to be annoyed.

I've been using Vizacast [at dvdxdv.com]. Create an album-length AAC and then split it into chapters.

iTunes 4.9 did video the same way as 5. I've not noticed any difference anyway. The smart playlist I had listing all my videos stored in iTunes still works in 5.0. It still lists the same way, the resize icon is still the same.

Eh, anyone know a way to make those iTrip igriffin files all into one group? it takes so much of the library.

I never knew you could do that!! How do you add a video? Just drag it in?

For me, it doesn't only have two positions, but with the display it can slide a little bit (but I'm sure you've seen that). This is how iTunes 4 handled it too, which slightly bugs me but I can totally understand why they did that.

iTunes is old-school carbon, hence no nibs...

WTF

Now iTunes doesn't match with Safari, and iChat. This really pisses me off. And who wants Square Song windows. The rounded one was much better. I want 4.9 back. DAM YOU APPLE!

Totally, while Dashboard and Spotlight are really nice, Tiger was so underwhelming. Hopefully 10.5 will be complete when it is released. Also the gui in Tiger between Apple apps does not match. They updated Mail and now iTunes, but why not Safari and the Finder Windows. I've never liked the brushed metal anyway.

it seems that iTunes 5 could play Ogg files .... but actually it doesnt. :)

You could find that on iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/iTunes-ogg.icns

In iTunes 4, you could play OGG files if you had the OGG Quicktime component but I've just tried it in 5 and it crashes immediately. Admittedly I've not tried an OGG since upgrading to Quicktime 7 so it may be a Quicktime issue, not iTunes.
