You're right - patience is a virtue. It's just I'm so impatient. :(

Except on Apple's site it explicitly states that upgrades cannot be done on a track-by-track basis.

Personally, I'm happy that they are offering any sort of upgrade at all. Nothing forced them to offer an upgrade, you know...They could have just said, "Oh, buy it all again!"

Can you make a song if I gave you 99 cents???

99 Cents is nothing for a nice piece of music.

Seriously, think about the musicians and producers, how some of them really put their heart into it.

All the expensive instruments, recording locations, all the people involved in making a single song.

Seriously, 99 cents is NOTHING. :apple:

That's weird because there is a is a TV show here that will be aired this Thursday and the theme of the show is about doing a song (writing, producing and recording it) for a total budget of 99 c...

Argh, what the heck, I am just going to upgrade em all.:)

None of my upgrades are going through after I hit "Purchase". Servers must be getting punched.:(

I was told about having an email from iTunes store on how to get them upgraded in a message, so clicked ok and am now waiting for the email.

So.. when i was at home before the store had added the iTunes Plus and iTunes U areas, I was able to upgrade the songs I had. Now at work, I have more music (some that IS available in the Plus format) and I'm failing to upgrade them. Don't understand what went wrong.

East Coast may be overloaded.....

Argh, what the heck, I am just going to upgrade em all.:)

That's the spirit. Wish I had my Apple stock from the 90s. :(

(BTW, my second album download is reduced to a crawl. Apple's servers must be getting hammered now. Or something with my mac mini dropping connection. But I think the Apple Store note that it is unavailable shows there's some interest out there.)

I'm still waiting for my downloads to appear. I hope they come soon, and I know Apple's servers must be taking a beating but I didn't pay £23.78 of my precious cash for nothing.

Ok, I am able to upgrade the songs now. How unfortunate that I have an ultra crap internet speed and there are 130 to do!!

I hope it works.:apple:

Considering it usually takes about 2 seconds to download a track and maybe like 3 more for iTunes to "catchup" with what it's download, i'm actually quite amused i'm getting failed downloads, with the ones that don't taking forever :p

I don't think it's fair to charge 30% to upgrade an album. If you pay .30 to upgrade a song you end up paying the same price as someone just buying the iTunes+ track today. If you upgrade an album that you paid $9.99 for you end up paying $12.99 when someone just buying it today only pays $9.99.

Yeah, that really sucks. I was surprised to see the 30% charge.

If I'd known, I would have waited to buy a couple albums until today and saved myself a bit of money. Still, that's only a few dollars. The big price difference is all the albums I've bought over the years. I don't think I'll upgrade everything, just some of the best.

Except on Apple's site it explicitly states that upgrades cannot be done on a track-by-track basis.

Or maybe I'll not upgrade anything. :(

Really? How did they get equipment? Did they steal the microphones, cables, mixing boards, computers, etc.? Or maybe you can make a song for 99¢ if your cousin owns a recording studio and he owes you some big favors?

Forget speed....

If the servers across the pond are in better shape you'll make it. The second album I'm updating to go with Amos Lee, Shawn McDonad's "Live in Seattle" is more than half done now but still struggling to get the last three songs. I've had to "resume download" about a half dozen times already.

But eventually, we're all gonna get there. ;)

So I thought I would be able to upgrade an individual song. Turns out I can only upgrade them all or none??? This seems like a pretty poor implementation.

I vote negative.

That's what I thought initially too. As it happens I am banned from buying anything on iTunes but to be honest I don't give a damn right now. I want my upgraded music, so that will be how it is!!:D

thinks they are going to have a few buggs.....i tried to upgrade earlier....it froze now i go ad look and it says i've upgraded my songs (no i haven't) and now they wont show up on the need to upgrade part.

iTunes 7.2 error after installation

Is anyone else getting an error "iTunes needs to close" everytime you try to open iTunes after installation? I've tried everything to fix it. I've uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime, Installed Quicktime separately then installed iTunes, etc. and it still gives me that error when I try to open iTunes.

I have two computers, a laptop and a desktop, both running Windows XP. The desktop installed it fine, the laptop is the one I'm having problems with. It was working perfectly until the iTunes 7.2 update.

Anyone else getting this?

According to Apple's press release:

"256 kbps AAC encoding for audio quality virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings"

Who are they trying to kid? Use a half-decent hifi and play any AAC file against the original CD and the difference is very apparent. Apple needs to offer lossless files if it really wants to compete with CDs

they are kidding most people, because most people can't tell the difference. most people grew up happily listening to FM radio. honestly, if you just tell people that music is higher quality, they will believe it. placebo effect.
