I've learnt this trick which did for me: trash the iTunes app from Aplications folder, download the iTunes from Apple website, and install it again. ;)

PS: Just the iTunes application from APPLICATIONS folder, NOT the "iTunes music" folder, the one containing the music and stuff. That shall stay!

I don't know how to thank you because I did what you posted and it actually fixed the issue. Wow! I don't understand why that happened but really thank you for this simple advice.

Well, now that the lyrics work with the 128 kbps on-the-fly conversion, I'm having a different more significant problem. Everytime I sync my iPhone, it deletes everything and resyncs. I have 25 GB of music and it literally takes 12 HOURS to resync everything (while converting to 128 kbps). Obviously unacceptable!

Man, I KNEW this was too good to be true. :( How could this not have been caught during Beta testing? It always takes Apple about 3 tries to get a new feature working completely right!

I haven't tried yet, but does this ONLY happen if the 128 kbps conversion is checked? If anyone having this problem with normal music sync (i.e. without this feature checked)?

Tony

It is erasing and reconverting all the music on my iPhone with each sync as well. Very, very annoying. Takes several hours to sync now.

Why is this >100MB. Seriously, Apple really needs to take a leaf from Microsoft's book and implement an updating system that only updates the actual components that have changed rather than the whole application.

(I know this may not be a big deal to most people, but it is to me as my uni only allows 1GB/day - completely cutting off if you go over the limit - it really helps to save every last byte that comes through my system, especially when I go through a lot of required webpages for API documentation and the like)

Even if you dont have a limit, people should still conserve, apple is very irresponsible.

Anyone having an issue with syncing tracks with lyrics that are transcoded to 128kbps.

It is redoing them every single time now so every sync is taking over an hour as it is deleting the transcoded tracks with lyrics and then doing them all again

<edit> I see I'm not the only one

How about telling me that I'm not authorized to sync my Audible content?

And checking gapless playback info for 100s of tracks with every sync?

Those were my iTune 9.1 issues...

I can confirm that the LYRICS bug on the on the fly 128 bit conversion is FIXED! It now properly displays lyrics on your device after the conversion for songs that have embedded lyrics! This effectively doubles my capacity with little audio degradation.

However, it does take FOREVER to sync the first time. I have about 5,000 songs on my iPhone now, and it took 12 HOURS to convert them and sync!

Tony

have you checked for all of your lyrics? cause in mine some appear and some don't...

i have the same gapless playback info bug too, and even with 9.1.1. was not fixed...actually, i think this release didn't fix anything for me. genius keeps making itunes freeze, lyrics won't display correctly, etc. USELESS update!

Please Apple

I don't think I am alone in this I collect and listen to old radio shows, The Shadow, Gun Smoke, The Green Hornet,
The Country Gentlemen, The Texas Rangers, etc. Could we have a tab category for Radio Shows in iTunes to file such shows under, and such a tab for my Touch.

For everyone saying I hope this fixes..., especially for the older issues that haven't been resolved over multiple update cycles...

Have you reported the issue to Apple?

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

You can't expect them to know about every little bug. Some can be isolated. I haven't experience any of the playlist bugs, for example. The only way they can fix it is if they know about it. The more people who report it, the more likely and sooner it will be looked at.

I have reported the Recently Added playlist bug long ago—and it has seen a TON of discussion in Apple’s forums, going back many months. In fact, in perusing many of those threads, you’re the first person I’ve seen say Recently Added DOES work for you with Live Updating. Until now I’d have said the bug was universal. (Unless that’s not actually a feature you use—but many do. Recently Added only works on iPhone if you don’t update it live—but that defeats the purpose.)

Hope this resolves the issue (introduced in iTunes 9.0!) with the entire Accessibility API causing an infinite recursion when 'column browser' was turned on and on the top. It'd be nice for apps like jiTouch and Zooom/2 to not have to hack around iTunes' bugginess finally!

(I'm assuming that "VoiceOver" uses the same accessibility APIs to get the control under the mouse cursor so that it can speak it ... but maybe "VoiceOver" here is the voice navigation thing for Shuffles ...)

In case anyone was wondering the same, reportedly it DID fix the Accessibility API issues which have plagued iTunes since 9.0. I haven't confirmed this by going back to "not specifically disabled when iTunes is the frontmost app" versions of Zooom/2 and jiTouch, but others on the respective forums have, with good results. The devs have put out updated versions of their plugins as well, so it seems they are quite confident the issue has finally been addressed too.

And, for the record, this issue had been reported to Apple by customers and multiple developers since it was determined to be an iTunes issue in 9.0; apparently it took Apple breaking it more (to move it from "cosmetic issue" / "third-party accessibility apps don't work" to "crashes iTunes every time") before it got high enough priority to get fixed (or, just as likely, someone "thought" they were fixing it with 9.1.0 and ended up making it significantly worse).

Album Art

I wish they'd fix the issue with album art not displaying or displaying the wrong artwork. :(

iTunes 9.1.1 Major Issue

Ever since upgrading to 9.1 and even to 9.1.1, iTunes uses upwards of 98 percent of CPU (verified through activity monitor). No longer will play any video, and it takes 15-20 seconds to change songs (even on the same CD).
After spending several hours at the genius bar, was told I would have to rebuild the entire library (approximately 1TB) and rebuild ALL the playlists (several hundred).

It took my wife over two years to build this library only to have an "upgrade" to iTunes to make it completely useless.

My wife wants nothing to do with APPLE or iTunes or any other APPLE product.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to correct this issue, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks

Sorry to hear. I'm afraid it's hard to know a fix without knowing exactly what is causing the issue. Chances are the rebuilding of the library may be 'catch-all' solution suggested by Apple help. Also, by rebuilding do they mean manually recreating the playlists and reimporting music? Or just a one button click to rebuild?

That said, it's always a good idea not to become so reliant on a single point such that one small failure means everything is completely lost.

I was wondering if anybody can confirm that this version of iTunes will NOT brick my 120gb iPod Classic.
I upgraded to iTunes 9.0, which promptly bricked my previous 120gb iPod Classic. Apple replaced this iPod, and gave me the one I currently have now. Unfortunately, the one month of warranty has expired since then, and I do not wish to have to purchase another iPod.

Not sure what the term ''brick'' means, but i am assuming it means the same as killing ur device. One question. How is that even possible?
