Not seeing anyone else having problems w/ Genius, but here's a screenie of what mine looks like; I've also already tried an update of Genius to no avail.

Any help?

If the syncing was done wirelessly, it would take even longer.

I sync it about once a week. Even though I transfer quite a few podcasts, it hardly ever takes more than a minute. How long is "forever" for you?

It would take longer but could be done when phone was not in use in small increments. It would become passive as opposed to active. Not a deal killer, but a very nice to have. Ultimately, I would prefer that the computer requirement go away. At least for the ipad. I should be able to manage all of my media content on my phone from the cloud for free (or for a nominal price).

The update seems to have added a "feature" if you will. Now, if I try and sync ringtones with my 3Gs, it won't let me manually manage my music. If I click manually manage music, it won't let me sync ringtones without erasing the whole library on my phone. WTF?

The on-the-fly transcoding to 128 kbps works like a charm. I've been waiting years for Apple to add support for this to the iPod. Virtually all of my music is in lossless, and now I can store about 8x more albums than I could previously. Awesome.

So you're not having any problems with displaying the lyrics for the transcoded songs on an iPod ?

The previous version allows me to "covert to aac version' when I right click on any song, I can't seem to find this option anywhere on the new iTunes any more. Anyone know where is it?

there is no more option to convert a selected file to aac or mp3 or whatever like it used to be ,right click - convert selection to ,if i remember well.BastErds!

I am rather upset that I updated now. I was using the option to convert my Apple Lossless tracks ripped from my CDs to 256 AAC tracks. Now what do I do?

Just click advanced, then select the option... you can also hold down alt/option to get a create aac instead of convert to aac

Wouldn't be the first time Apple has gave us a beta product as final.
Considering the amount of posts and lack of bug reports, it does not seem like it is buggy at all. I remember a few years ago, threads about iTunes .x updates were always filled with a few glaring bugs and Apple would release .x.1 update in a few days.

I am disappointed that there does not seem to a way to read eBooks through iTunes even though it can organize them. Maybe they will release another update after iPad is released.

.raw file support on iPhone!

I was wondering what was taking my iPhone to sync tonight. Raw files from my Canon 5d, s90, and older G9 all sync to my phone now. Makes sense given the iPad's raw file support.

Transfering from SD Card

Do you think it'll be possible to transfer movies/music besides just photos from an SD card to the iPad? I got the 16gb because it's all I could afford, and I'm a little bummed because I'll really have to watch how much content I have on it between apps/movies. I won't even keep songs on it as I use my iPhone for that purpose.

None of us know anything about the full capability of the Camera kit. We'll have to wait until somebody gets one in their hands and test it for us.

What i'm curious about is the ability to use SD card as a temporary storage, so I don't need to keep the photos on my iPad. Whenever I visit my family or friends, i'll just bring my SD cards instead of syncing the whole library to the iPad.

Cool, just dragged and dropped a couple of epub books into iTunes and now they show up with my audio books in the Books source list.

I then googled the book, got info on the book, and dragged and dropped the book cover art into the artwork field along with a description of the book too. Can't wait to sync to my iPad.

You're going to love the Old Man's War, I just finished reading it last week. Going to read the rest of them on the iPad. It reminds me of the first Ender book and The Orphanage book. I love the plot.

Apple need to look at how calibre gets the info, they pulled the whole book details from the cover art to the book description as well as its genre down automatically by using the ISBN.

I agree. The iPhone has enough room for music on the go, when I use my iPhone for music it's usually when I'm doing something. 128 kbps works just fine for that as I'm usually dividing my attention elsewhere. A 90GB iTunes catalogue on the i7 which is where I store my lossless music doesn't need to be entirely replicated on my 32GB iPhone. When I MTB I rarely listen to more than 100 songs, I'm mostly concentrating on the challenges at hand.

At first my iPhone was not recognized after installing 9.1, so I restarted my Mac, even though it did not tell me to do so and it recognized the iPhone just fine.

I thought you did not have to restart the Mac after updates [unless prompted to] like you did on Windows, what gives?

Why would you want to convert higher quality songs to 128 kpbs?

Just to save space on your iPhone, right?

I wonder if it'll save that much space on your iPhone, if it will take up extra space on your computer and really ruin your 320kbps songs.

It's just an option for people who want to have higher quality copies of their music on the computer, but keep 128k copies on the ipod. 128kbps only takes 128/320ths the space of 320kbps, in other words less than half the space, so it will make a big difference.
