Properly written software should not require an update to handle new devices. I thought using USB was supposed to solve this issue.

Anyone know why iTunes runs like ass on Windows? Click a tab for like Radio and half the icons don't load. Leave it running for a few days and it locks up. It works, but it's like, why is it sooo bad. And why doesn't the windows version have that infinity symbol on it that plays similar music after it's done playing whatever you chose to play.

Hopefully we will hear about the PowerBook G5 next! 😁
I was just thinking that Apple could've supported PowerPC systems for longer. It's brutal if you bought an iBook in 2005 you only got one OS upgrade from Tiger to Leopard. Apple is supporting Intel MacBooks longer than they supported PowerPC laptops.
I think Snow Leopard should have made it to PowerPC tbh.

Didn't Apple put out a "Devices" app for iPod/iPhone/iPad device management, alongside a TV app for Apple TV+? I thought iTunes for Windows was just for Podcasts now...

It's weird when Apple gives you choices. That's very un-Apple.

I think the Devices, TV, Music apps for Windows are still in Beta. That is probably why they're still issuing iTunes updates.

I want my iTunes back on my Mac.

I hate to look for individual apps for music and movies/TV shows.

Every since SJ is gone and the departure of Scott Forstall, macOS has kept going more and more unintuitive.

It's been 3 and a half years since the first Apple Silicon Macs came out. Snow leopard was released about 3 and a half years after the first Intel Macs were released; three years after the last PowerPC models were discontinued. Apple just didn't release OS updates as frequently back then (and they were paid updates).

That said the Apple Silicon transition took longer, Apple refreshed its entire product line between January and August 2006 whereas it took two and a half years for the M-series transition. Depending on if Apple counts from the launch of the first M series Macs or the discontinuation of the last Intel Mac we might see Intel support drop as early as this year or as late as 2026.

As for Snow Leopard on PowerPC, the whole point of that release was to comb out old PowerPC code and optimize for Intel to make the OS faster and leaner, something I hope Apple does when the time comes to drop Intel support.

Last time I used iTunes was years ago and it locked down and put DRM on my Mp3`s and I couldn't move them to other Os`es because iTunes locked them down to only iTunes media player. I have not been back since.
Is it still this way with DRM protections locking the files?

One of my favorite features of itunes back in the early 2000s was that thing where your computer would turn the audio sounds of a song into cool visuals that would fill the screen. I don’t remember what they called it, but it was awesome. Sorry they got rid of that feature.

Probably in the minority here but I still use iTunes for Windows to mange the music on my iPhone and iPad. Tried "upgrading" to the three new apps (Apple Music, Devices, and TV) but they are worse, slow and buggy (yes, worse than iTunes). And you can't convert a purchased iTunes store song to MP3 like you can with iTunes. Is everyone streaming now or how does everyone manage their music on their devices?

ngl I envy Windows users who get to still use iTunes. the Apple Music app on macOS is still trash
ITunes can get laggy, espec. If you try to move between library and its store. But for daily playback use, it is still terrific.

My music library is resident on my iTunes, carefully curated and organized. Still loving it. Also still sometimes moving music onto an ipod classic for portability.
