The latest update removes the ability to publish newly-created sites to MobileMe. (Older sites that were already going there still retain the ability.)

iWeb is not available for sale on the App Store, and is not shipped on new Lion-equipped Macs. It has been discontinued. As has iDVD.

Fair enough! :(

What do I do now....

I just set up a blog using iWeb the other day and now am finding out that it will be discontinued when iCloud rolls out. What is going to happen to my blog that I just set up? I'm a newbie and loved how easy it was to set up.

I think iWeb development was difficult to maintain:

1 - web technologies and standards evolve quickly
2 - specialized blogging sites do it better (Wordpress, ...)
3 - social networking cannibalized the potential market (especially young, in experimented people)

Sign up for hosting from another provider (I use ImageLeet and *love* them). iWeb can be set up to publish directly to your new hosting account. Super simple...

Excuse my ignorance here but are you saying that I can build my blog on iWeb and then use Wordpress to publish it? I set up an account and purchased my domain name from them. I like iWeb because it's easier to set up and add content than Wordpress. I built a blog site on iWeb for my daughter the other day and I loved the simplicity of it compared to Wordpress. I have never set up a blog before so I am a real rookie here. Any help would be appreciated.

No. Wordpress negates any need for iWeb. At the risk of being all RTFM'y, in big bold letters at wordpress.org, WordPress is blog software.

The best thing for you to do to tell if you would like to run a WordPress site instead of using iWeb to create and upload sites is to create an account at wordpress.com and play with an install. Specifically try out a few plugins and themes and get a feel for the difference between pages and posts.

There are programs that you can use for pointy clicky editing of WordPress. iWeb is not one of them. Occasionally I use Windows Live Writer (free) which will publish to WordPress sites. There are also WordPress iPad and iPhone apps to edit content.

For most people, to attempt to use iWeb on a WordPress install will almost certainly kill your WordPress install.
