Sorry, this is very obvious; QuickLook by definition does NOT open files...
Then it makes Spotlight nearly useless. Thankfully I've spent enough time tagging files but it only really works back in Tiger. Spotlight productivity goes down in Leopard and it goes a little lower in Snow Leopard.

I can probably count on two hands the number of times I've used Spotlight. Maybe I'm missing out on something.
It helps a lot when you want to manage a few thousand files beyond the basic metadata that OS X pulls by itself. I can only remember up to about a thousand files per folder in memory. Even then it's only in about 3 folders.

I need to start dabbling in OpenMeta to be honest but with my declining OS X usage I don't see a reason to look further into it.

I touched on this some time ago.

I gotta agree with BRLawyer on this one. I wouldn't want the last opened attribute changing each time I used QuickLook on a file. I use quicklook when I'm digging through a lot of files and only want the files I actually open to be seachable in Spotlight as having been opened.

But I certainly can also agree that we all use computers in different ways, for different purposes, and each have our own style or way of doing things. (not saying yours or mine are better, but we each have ways that suit each of us best) I'm sorry the functionality doesn't work for you though.

I think the best option would be if Apple could add another attribute, like "last touched" (for the last time the user touched/used the file regardless if it was "opened" in a program or not) or Last Accessed or something like that that could be searchable in Spotlight, but also not meddle with the Last Opened attribute.

Damn, yet another one? Isn't this the 8th beta build--and like the 5th with "no outstanding issues." If only someone would leak the 10D567 build of the update to the interwebs.

Maybe we might finally see Apple getting around to releasing this baby after the end of March, once the first RTM build of the iPad OS software is done.

Tiger? Tiger was nice five years ago.

But . . .

No Spaces
No Quick Look
No Stacks
No Time Machine
No Finder sidebar enhancements, etc.
And no -10810 The application Finder can't be opened requiring a reboot.

On there being a long time between 10.6.2 and 10.6.3: is this the iPad fallout? Is all of Apple's attention and resources going to the iPad and iPhone OS? Maybe this is a taste of the future for the Mac. Is the Mac going to be like the end of the Apple II and stop being a priority? I hope not!

Tell me about it...longest cycle for notebooks, longest cycle for OS X...I hope Apple blows us away with new releases this year, because it's awfully hard to wait for them...:(

Remember! The Macs this year will be taken..."to the next level"!

But then again, the next level could just be 10.6.3 lol

I wonder if Apple will ever release any new computers and ACDs?
They really have become an after thought for AppleT&T. :apple:

If anyone here says 10.6.2 is perfect then why the hell 83% costumers told 10.6.2 ruined their computer in Apple Support Forum

Your statistics are not so good. You are taking data from a "survey" that is already biased and will always be a higher %. It is in no way shape or form random so your 83% is not factual. I do appreciate the list of fixes though :D

For you. Not for all.

Does this fix the ****ing problem with multitouch gestures not working after coming back from sleep or after a restart?

It's annoying and needs to be fixed pronto!

What the hell... they seem to have pulled this build while I was still downloading it... :(

10.6.3

Like many of you I am interested to receive 10.6.3 and with each beta release I wonder what is happening in Cupertino.

Is Apple putting all its resources into finalizing the iPad and iPhone OS before the end of this month as I recall they did pull resources from other areas before the iPhone was originally released?

I am a total Apple fan, however I am also concerned at the support one receives and I highlight the long and overplayed MacPro 2009 problems. I really just hope that Apple will continue to develop their computer systems.

The iMacs are beautiful to look at, but work on them for any length of time and eyestrain is a problem. To change a hard disk is a major operation and likely voids warranty, MacPro's are better as one has the some flexibility, MacMini's are great, but I would like to see a MiniPro with a choice of graphic and processor options, as without this the hackintosh brigade wants a Mac without the limitations and the costs of the high end and costly model(s).

I am confused as to where Apple is going as certainly they have changed their priorities as well as the Company name. I hope that a new Mini will appear with an HDMI output and the ability to run the ATV software, as again the ATV has been around a long time and the processing power is very limited although the new software releases have highlighted the fact that it is underpowered and "old".

Apple - whatever the reasoning behind the delays to 10.6.3, please do not continue to disappoint your core customers who have always invested in your higher end products due faith and belief in your quality products - more communication is needed rather than the impressions that we are currently getting.

Do not sacrifice us while you develop products like the iPad and iPhone as that market will be much more volatile once you designer phone users decide to move on..., as indeed they will....

I don't think that Apple sees the Mac as less of a priority (based on the revenue that Mac sales generates).

However, I do believe that Apple is struggling to make its internal deadlines. Apple runs very lean and they have few resources. Compared to its competition, Apple is very lightly staffed. This lack of resources is more evident when they launch a new platform.

Buddy the survey report is by Apple Support Forum....Got it .... I guess u should try looking around :apple: Support Forum [If U heard abt it] It is not biased son

Say hello to the G4 Cube, Apple's last stab at trying to bridge the gap between the iMac and the Mac Pro.

10.6.2 is awesome enough. If Apple wants to keep baking 10.6.3 then keep it in the oven.

I say they'll release 10.6.3 shortly after the iPad ships.
