Apple today released Mac OS X 10.6.4, the fourth maintenance update for Snow Leopard, via Software Update.

Article Link: Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.6.4

My iPhoto problems are gone! 10.6 had rendered iPhoto useless for editing on my iMac. Was close to moving to another photo management setup completely....

Pic related - it's was what I was seeing when trying to edit in iPhoto in 10.6.2 and 10.6.3, but 10.6.4 has resolved this issue.

Before this update my mbp was unable to sleep after the set time due to background scripts, so I had to use 'PleaseSleep' app to make sure it would sleep. After this update it goes to sleep just fine.

Success times 2

I installed 10.6.4 on my 17" Nov 2007 C2D and my wife's 2008 C2D blackbook. No issues so far. Nothing seems "snappier" though:(

used the combo update - force of habit I guess.

Behringer FCA202

I've just installed 10.6.4 using the Software Update and my FCA202 no longer shows as a sound option, and in 'About this Mac' it says 'unable to list Firewire devices' - lucky I backed up before installing!

Re downloads. Why does Mac not just let Mac Stores give the update to users on USB if they they bring one in? My download speed is horrendously slow and it would be very easy for me to go to my MacStore - 10 minute walk away, with my original Snow Leopard disc and or my Macbook and install the update there, why do Apple not make that an option/offer? Holy wotsit - the combo is nearly 900MB!!!

It looks like they haven't fixed the wifi dropping problems and it's KILLING me...

What are they waiting for? It seems to be a basic feature and I'm really not the only one affected... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2142725

:mad::mad::mad:

It's actually worst than before with this new update: I now lose the signal every 3-4 minutes although I'm only a few meters far from the routeur...

I'm going to go back to the old leopard tonight.. Thanks Apple
I don't get it: the problem is well known since the first SL release

Yes, Akamai has thousands of servers worldwide. Slowdowns are going to be pretty localized, related either to your ISP, or a single Akamai server needing to restrict load or keep it from being monopolized.

Do you have a large hosts file? Try cleaning it out.

Mine is 500k, too much?

Why is mac OS becoming like vista, why Windows 7 becoming Mac OS??

Im disatisfied with the update..the safari scrolling got choppy...off course, apple is investing all its time on iphone and ipad...the quality of the updates are deteriorating...perhaps we should soon move back to windows...

i was so happy with leopard, ever since snow leopard, things have got so unreliable and crappy like vista...

and honestly the new safari got nothing to make me stay, i will switch to chrome or firefox..

I hope apple refocuses their attention on the mac OS and their computers...i bet Steve Jobs only thinks about iphones, they didnt even mention anything about Mac OS and safari this year WWDC

OS X does seem to be on a downward spiral since SL. Very Vista-y! They do seem to be concentrating on iOS now.

I've got 2 years warranty left on my Mac (my first one). I really hope they sort out OS X and their UK/EU pricing before then. Otherwise it's sadly back to windows, although aparrantly 7 is quite good. SL still way better than 7, but the quality gap is closing whilst the price gap is increasing!

No problems here. And they fixed the choppy Expose and Spaces at last. I may even keep it the new way now and won’t use the old-Expose hack anymore.

Happy with the update.:apple:

Just installed here using the combo on my i7 17" MBP. Everything seems fine so far. All my CS3 apps open up without a problem. Safari got updated to 5 by the combo updater.

SMB seems much more snappier now!

beside that no problems up to now (FW 800 works like it did before --> like a charm).
Even deep rooted apps like CoolBook work fine after the update.

Cheers, S.

worth upgrading ?

I'm worried about the latest update - what I read so far it looks like there are 2 camps - one love it, its working fine...the other one is downgrading and reinstalling OS - I've installed SL since its released and Im really not interested to reinstall my system...seems like Steve really spent most of engineers on iOS :/ Dunno, tell me please, does it worth upgrading or it seems they release some fixes for 10.6.4 in next 2 weeks?..

this release upgraded mail.app which broke all my plugins on my gf's uMB, and added annoying mobileme icon to my menubar which i hate. and i got popups regarding mobileme and my ical/entourage calendar entries...annoying!

i've restored her back to 10.6.3 from my superduper copy overnight; all is well in the universe again :)

If you take a USB thumb drive to an Apple Store, they'll let you download the update to it.
