yes 2500$ and up. But that would be MAC PRO niveau (And they mostly had Server Boards inside, more server than a PC, even moste Workstations came with the normal XP) and most 80% or more is sold between 800$-2000$ and there I have never seen an XP 64Bit.

Nah, saw XP64 on $2KNZD computers and laptops.

My dad tried putting XXP64 on my sister's workstation. I thought it was a cruel and mean joke.

Last night I came home around 10:30p EST.

The download was a breeze. The install took longer.

You know, you don't have to download it as soon as it comes out. Try doing it outside business hours as well.

As you wish.

OS X does seem to be on a downward spiral since SL. Very Vista-y! They do seem to be concentrating on iOS now.

I've got 2 years warranty left on my Mac (my first one). I really hope they sort out OS X and their UK/EU pricing before then. Otherwise it's sadly back to windows, although aparrantly 7 is quite good. SL still way better than 7, but the quality gap is closing whilst the price gap is increasing!

i think they're concentrating on iOS now more than before... but iOS is recent. they just have 2 os-es now, so double the attention. wait for september when the media / ipod event is most likely to be planned, and the sneak peek of OSX 10.7 will be starting to appear.... :)

So true. It is better to wait a bit, come here, and read up on how others are faring with the update. Then you can make a somewhat informed decision to download it to your machines.

I have a conundrum I'd like any comments on.
I am making images for NetRestore for 1,200 Macs. About 600 will run SL, but we have tested our systems and software with 10.6.3 extensively, but not 10.6.4 obviously. I need to finish a main staff image for 280 MacBook Pro's tomorrow. Do I update to 10.6.4 on the image, or take the known path and stick with 10.6.3? I have had great luck with updates, and I will make one image real quick tomorrow to test. I am leaning toward updating unless someone makes a compelling argument.

That completely depends on your level of risk tolerance. If it were me, there's no way I would update hundreds of machines with an untested release. I would start small.

unless it resolves the iphone 4 pre-ordering issues i could give a rat's a$$ right now.

I think people are misinterpreting this statement. Clearly, he has an inventory of rats' a$$es. At the moment, he has some free time, so if anyone needs a rat's a$$ he is able to provide such. However, once the iPhone pre-order problems are resolved, he will be extremely busy, and therefore won't have the time for rat's a$$ disbursement.

I think this is an understandable position, and that people should cut him some slack.

Seriously Apple? Still?

I think the memory leak is a MUCH bigger issue than that!

It looks like they haven't fixed the wifi dropping problems and it's KILLING me...

What are they waiting for? It seems to be a basic feature and I'm really not the only one affected... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2142725

:mad::mad::mad:

I was having the 5 GHz radio on my Airport Extreme dropping the connection too. Turns out interference was corrupting the key and causing the router to de-authenticate my MBP. Experiment with different channels, I found a channel that has been working flawlessly.

Did anybody else's install hang? For the last hour, mine has been stuck on "Running Package Scripts...". Not sure what to do.

Darnit! When will the developers be upgrading their plugins, anyone know? I can't tell that the new mail is any different from the old mail, other than that my Dockstar and Letterbox no longer work at all :(

OK you realise most shareware developers have a day job and a family. Patience.

I can wish all I want, but that's not the case. I use SL since 10.6.0 and see improvement every .x release. It's way faster than Leopard and features were addded. I don't really understand how it's Apple's Vista.

Memory leak (inactive memory) using Safari and Flash. Not present on 10.5.x

BTW: Is this fixed. I want to know before I upgrade (I'm back on 10.5.8 on my main MB)

You could run both OS's via Bootcamp which I would assume you may have considered.

I do not recall experiencing any of the problems and issues described in this thread regarding SL. Smooth sailing, quick, responsive, and glitch-free so far. I may add that I do stay away as much as I can from third party plugins, hacks, or other items that modify the OS and Apple Apps since the risk of incompatibility increases significantly after updating. For the adventurous type or the people requiring such modifications, I would suggest reviewing the potential of incompatibility BEFORE updating, at least as much as you can, and with any firmer need for reliance in stability, I stress this point even more so.

Greetings and best wishes to everyone.

Did my update late last night. Worked fine and was quick. They didn't mention there was also a iMac firmware update? Or is that old news? I just got my iMac a few days ago.

Thanks for the tip: I actually already read that somewhere but the thing is I'm most fo the time on routers where I'm not the admin..hence I can't change the channel. :-/

Cheerio

I always welcome security updates. :D
I haven't had any issues with SL after the first update for printers and CS3. But that's normal with a new OS.

I agree. A lot of Apple people are very impatient. I updated this morning and everything went perfectly fine :) download took 5 minutes, install took like 8. Perfectly fine by me haha

Does anyone think I should worry....

About installing x.6.4? I have "an unsupported" video card in my macpro 1.1.
I have an ATI RADION 4870.
No problems under x.6.3.

What does anyone think?
