or buy a mac for hone

I have a Mac at home, an iMac. But the issue isn't that, it's that my home ISP is SLOW.

So I will take my MBP back to the office and hope the combo DMG is posted so I can download it and apply it to my iMac as well as the MBP.

Running Dev Build 10H542 and can't see the final release under Software Update yet...anyone else having this problem?

I've tried downloading the Combo Update from an earlier poster but, although it installs fine, it doesn't seem to have had any effect on which build I'm running...

Any ideas, anyone?

You need reversioner if you want to update from a developer build. Just download the final build from developer connection, it'll have the reversioner.

Same exact problem...don't really know whats going on.

No idea what's happening...I've got 10.6.5 under Software Update fine on my MacBook (although that was running 10.6.4) but for some reason, I'm getting nothing under my iMac's 10H542...

Have Apple posted an official update .DMG yet? I've checked the manual installer link on the 'About the Mac OS X v10.6.5 Update' page from Apple, but it just redirects to a general list of all available downloads relating to 10.6 - sans a download for 10.6.5...

HELLO!??????HELLO?!!!

I have a very important question!!!! Please! I heard this update nerfs TimeMachine to the point it will only backup documents, pictures, videos, and music.

ANY TRUTH TO THIS?

True. There is a very good reason for this actually.

I would like to know as well.

It's really strange, isn't it? I absolutely love installing updates, and that despite the fact that everything worked just fine on my machines…

Haha yes, it is. These updates actually change things though apparently. Unlike some Microsoft updates as noted in this http://www.newsbiscuit.com/2009/12/02/microsoft-admits-windows-updates-principally-created-to-annoy/

haha

P.S. The only issue i'm having is a microsoft issue. any help would be appreciated :D

I seriously hope Blizzard's at fault here, but considering their "some features require 10.6.5 so wait for that"-ish statement, I doubt they need to patch it in themselves. It was to my understanding that these features would be enabled when 10.6.5 was installed.
It could very well be Blizzards "fault". As I said earlier, there have been quite a few builds to the OS X upgrade since patch 4.0.1 was released for WoW.

Can you tell me how. I love if I could only back up the documents, music, video, pictures, downloads, and a think there is another folder.

Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Time Machine -> Options:

Click the + Button below the list, go to your hard drive, enable "Show invisible items", press Command + A to select all, now with Command pressed click Users to exclude that. Press the Exclude button.

Now nothing except your Home folder is backed up. If you really don't want Application Settings etc either, you can further Exclude the "Library" folder inside your home folder.

3 hours till it is complete downloading. This sucks!

Do you have a valid explanation as to why repairing permissions is not pointless?

Disparities amongst permissions happens frequently and most of the time unnoticed. One of the first things they teach at Apple is to Repair Permissions and its a great tip. Repairing Permissions fixes a lot of issues caused by aborted installs, failed software updates, failed software installs, or poorly packaged applications.

Aaaand just like that, we're back.

Also, Starcraft 2 does not seem to play any better with the update. I have no hard benchmarks, but I couldn't set the settings any higher than they were under 10.6.4 without pretty significant slowdowns.

My 2008 iMac saw a nice improvement. ~32 FPS instead of ~25 (medium settings). It is now just about on par with Windows. Load times are still terrible, though.

Airprint is not working with my Airport Express and HP 1022.

The most hyped point-release is finally out! Will be downloading and checking back to provide any info on Safari snappiness.

Thanks. I seen that but didn't know what folders to exclude. I love this frickin' site.

Do you have a valid explanation as to why repairing permissions is important when installing an OS update?

Also, make sure that you point your left hand toward Cupertino during the installation to channel Steve's vibes into your Mac.
This is important!

Do you have a 5000 series ATI card?

Chimps...

I'm now running 10.6.5 on an iMac all seems to work great.

Also, I have a Canon printer connected via USB to an old Airport Express with the printer being shared by the iMac and my iPhone 4 can print to it. I've been able to do this for ages, in fact I could even do it on my old Edge iPhone too!

Now, I don't have iOS 4.2 GM or anything like that - but I do have a great little app called Air Sharing, which [in the full version] has the option to print to shared printers.

So my point is... if these 3rd party guys can do it - why not Apple too? I guess I'll wait till 4.2 hits my iPhone to see if Apples Air Printing is there or not... and if it isn't, then I'll still be able to print from my iPhone, so no bother. :)

10.6.5 and World of Warcraft

So - any improvements for WoW 4.0? WoW specifically cannot enable certain graphic features without 10.6.5 and says so in configuration dialogs.

Edit:
Yup! Cmd+M switches to windowed mode without lockup, upper end graphic options are now available. This is on a ATI GPU based 27" iMac.
