Yeah, a great deal. I don't have the words to describe how SCREWED I feel again. I've paid 300 bucks for Aperture and bought every update on the way.

Now they sell Aperture 3 for LESS than I have paid for the 3.0 upgrade, and according to their advertisements, I can install the AppStore version on as many devices as I own, while the license for the boxed version only allowed for the installation on ONE desktop machine and ONE notebook.

Or do I now magically get the same license for my version of Aperture? Or can I register it and get it turned into an AppStore version?

This also wonderfully completely destroys the resell value of my retail copy of Aperture 3, should I have decided to switch to Lightroom or Bibble.

Being an Apple customer is an idiot proof way to quickly lose a lot of money.

Have you been using Aperture 3 since you bought it? If so then you have nothing to complain.

so is it just like itunes store? but can I try trial version before actually buying? well, unfortunately I can't. that's sucks. you don't know what kind of application you will buy. you say 'description'? that's not enough. there is a big difference between trying app and reading description. as far as I can see, there are no special features which are only for mac app store. it looks like very generic. thank you. I am not gonna buy anything. even mac apps are expensive. there are only few apps what I need. but I already have them all. so I don't need this crap.

too bad

Too bad all the apps from the mac app store are locked to 10.6.6 I have 2 partitions on my hard drive: the biggest one for leopard and the smallest one for snow leopard because SL is crap.

Now can someone crack the apps so they can run on older versions of os x?

'My Friend' has a downloaded version of iLife *cough*

what will happen when 'He' installs the Mac App Store, will it show that it is already installed or will 'He' have to pay for it for the first time ever ?

I also believe that 'He' might have the same issue with 'iWork' and 'Aperture'

isn't 'He' a little scamp ?

What a horrible, dishonest friend. Who needs enemies when you've got friends like that? :p

The App Store will recognize that it's installed, as there is no DRM on iWork, iLife or most other Apple software, it won't be able to tell the difference. Unfortunately, I don't think "he" will be able to get software updates through the Mac App Store unless "he" bought the App thru the Mac App Store.

Its ok 'My Friend' informs me that after the app store install last night 'his' iLife and iWork show up as installed. ;)

Greetings all first. (My first post)
One thing, what the hell is wrong with Steve Jobs?. Have Apple somehow desided that SSD disk are just a flyby in history? Why wont they implement TRIM!! I have a Intel gen2 160gb and it still sayes TRIM support: NO. Allthough the firmware in the disk supports it.

Greetings !

welcome to the forum, is this the first forum you have ever visited ?

Your post is very off topic

Apple themselves said that they want developers to keep demo software on their own websites, the store is just for buying. Its easy enough for the developer to put in the app description: 'Pleas visit our site ... for a trial version.'

Not off to a good start, I can view apps but not download anything, I just get the loading throbber go forever :c

Sorry all if i was bitching, :) Just a bit frustrated as i am thinking that Apple is a very innovative company. Anyway, the appstore looks great and i have not had any issues with 10.6.6 update. Dunno but maybe my 2009 mbp feels a bit quicker.

Japan Store: Also download problems

New App Store looks great.

Seem that there are teething problems in the Japan App Store too. I am getting the following message regardless of what I try to purchase.

I'm surprised at the eager acceptance here. This is Jobs testing the waters. If successful, you can be assured that future Mac OSes will be heavily locked-down iOS style, perhaps with the MAS being the only way to obtain software.

We can be assured, eh?

*facepalm*

I think it would be easier if people with this opinion just wore a sign around their necks that said "Hi, I don't understand much about computers OR business."

Care to elaborate on SL being Crap? So you are running to versions of OS X, I just don't get some people..... ???

So Leopard 10.5 users aren't invited to this party either...unless we pay to upgrade to SL. Hurrumph!

Agree... The weird thing is that they sell programs in the App Store with information like 'min. OS is 10.5'. Maybe it's something they are planning for the future? I hope so for 10.5 users AND 10.5 developers...

Ohhh btw, anyone else with login problems? On one iMac I can login and on the other one I can't??? They don't run at the same time and the iMac with the login problems refuses to show the login window... Weird...

We'll circle back on this issue when Lion arrives then. I remember a lot of talk about people surely not accepting the locked-down iPhone and draconian app store, and yet it's a runaway success. Jobs would LOVE to lock down the Mac OS. If he gets a cut out of every piece of Mac software sold, instant revenue stream for Apple. It would also enable him to cut out competitors to Apple-developed applications (though at a danger to federal snooping).

I just uninstalled AppStore since it doesn't let me download the free applications available if I don't give my credit card details.
