7hrs!!! took me about 10 mins

Actually I've given up. Will come back to it later when I have the time to keep an eye on it. Wish it took me ten minutes. The countdown function told me at one point 12hrs before leaping down to 8 hrs despite the fact that it had already been going for an hour. This is with wireless broadband.

Greetings all first. (My first post)
One thing, what the hell is wrong with Steve Jobs?. Have Apple somehow desided that SSD disk are just a flyby in history? Why wont they implement TRIM!! I have a Intel gen2 160gb and it still sayes TRIM support: NO. Allthough the firmware in the disk supports it.

That all being said I don't think it'll happen because unlike the iPhone, consumers still expect their computers to be open and in the control of the user. Yes we'll be more susceptible to malware, etc... but noone wants to intentionally restrict something or remove a freedom they previously had.

Oh really? Well..here in the States, it seems all any government official has to say is "safety" and citizens here are willing to give up just about any freedom they previously had, including those in our Constitution (unlawful search & seizure for one, or not being felt up or irradiated by TSA goons). So...yeah, I'd say the mass of Apple users will probably see this as a net good thing, perhaps protest a bit, and then move on from the issue fairly quickly.

On another note, I noticed the App Store also appears in the Apple menu. I wonder if I should keep it in my dock then. Hmm. Gotta love Apple's business model of taking a piece of action every step of the way :)

That's Apple trying to get you used to the App Store, just like they did with Ping and Genius on iTunes. Hence the useless OS update, which outside of the MAS, only fixes one security issue and one graphics card issue.

From here on out I'll only acknowledge this OS update as 10.6.6.6.
;)

Sad? I think cracking the MAS security is a perfectly sound response to a very sick idea. :apple: needs to wake up.

It's pretty damaging for Apple, considering they were trying to gain developers' trust that they could manage piracy measures for them. Perhaps Apple should have hired someone from Steam first. From what I've read of the hack, Apple's security measures are laughably bad. They'd better do some damage control quickly because it won't be long before someone creates a one-click cracker for any random john appleseed to exploit this.

I wanted to buy iWork '11 and Bento today, but both were MIA.

Aperture 3 was a nice surprise at $80 though. :)

Never would've guessed it was your first post, hmm. Spouting absolute junk in a completely unrelated thread. Can't say I'm looking forward to seeing you around here more.

WOOT :D its pretty epic installed it about 10 min ago works pretty well.

Lets see how long it takes for Microsoft to make a copy for windows :p

There is one already... its called google and has about 938734985734 times more apps

Windows really doesn't need a centralized app store. OS X however, desperately needed one.

Whenever i try downloading anything I just get a spinning wheel after clicking on BUY...

Anyone else have this??
Any resolutions?

TBH, Windows needs it even more than Mac OS X due to so many crappy untrusted apps available for Windows. Most developers have made quality apps for Mac.

any news on this?

My orginal question was
it doesn't let me sign in. I click the button to get to the sign in screen and nothing happens

Can anybody help me?

i'm still stuck. i found a thread on apple's support forums written by someone with the same problem, but no informational replies. this sucks!

I'm surprised at the eager acceptance here. This is Jobs testing the waters. If successful, you can be assured that future Mac OSes will be heavily locked-down iOS style, perhaps with the MAS being the only way to obtain software.
And then he'll come to your house and take your food, too.
Dialup much? :D. It took me all of 3 minutes to fully download 10.6.6 with the Mac App store.
I'd like to see that. 10:30pm CST and it's taking 20 minutes. And I am NOT on dialup. I swear Apple has the combo update on dialup.
