I'm curious to know, are mac apps sold like iOS apps? From your iTunes account and then can are licensed on 5 machines? Or is it one Mac per download?

You use your iTunes login information, but I have yet to try to download a paid app on more than one Mac.

Of note - Aperture is in the App Store, but none of the Final Cut products are - no Express, no Pro, no Studio.

Aperture £44.99

Looks like it's time to say good-bye to iPhoto. Aperture libraries are supposed to be smaller and I don't like the bug in iPhoto 11 where cropping or editing your photos makes them appear horribly pixelated but they revert to the correct version when published - makes it very hard to work out if you are doing the right thing.

Am assuming you can still order photobooks and whatnot from aperture?

Wow, the price on Aperture 3 made me do a double-take. $80 for a great professional program that sells for $199 on the Apple store? I sure hope they keep this type of pricing going. I believe they will as it will most definitely encourage people to download/use the App Store.

I read some of the post in regard to getting errors when downloading apps in the US store...concerned I went ahead and downloaded the free version of Evernote and I had no problem at all downloading. I had to agree to a new Apple agreement but no issues.

I'm loving it!

If it gives you an error, turn the whole computer off and on again. It's working for me now after not working before.

Off and on. Works.

What is the upgrade policy on Apps? Is it free or should I expect to still pay for new version upgrades? I don't want to buy this version of Numbers or Pages and find out in a few months we'll have a new major version on them.

What about multiple machines licensing? On my iPhone I can download an app and have it installed to my iPad at no extra cost. If I have two macs with the same account, can I download to the other machines?

Aperture is going to turn into the upsell of the century for Apple at this price.

itune as app store

I am actually disappointed that this wasn't added to ITunes :( I was hoping they'd add apps to ITunes and then hopefully Windows software to ITunes. Then they could move to adding some auto dealerships to ITunes and maybe a home grocery shopping service...and how about pizza and mochas?

I could do all my shopping without leaving the app at all!

Still not working! But, also interesting, you can change which App Store you're viewing by clicking the little flag bubble in the bottom right corner of the main page. US Store won't let me download anything either, but shows apps in USD rather than GBP.

I am guessing that the next FCS version (expected around April) will be available in the app store.

Fingers crossed. Really awaiting that one.

Very nice and very excited about the new app store. Glad to see Apple taking one of the things I loved about shopping with Adobe and making it 10x better.

I would also love to get some of that ultra compact toolbar action in the app store, shoved into Safari and other apps.

We could not complete your App Store request. An unknown error occurred (100).

Every time I tried to download an app so far.

Guess everything's not fully up yet.

Oh, this is in the US App Store btw.

Same on my side...just outside of Philly...All I want to download is Twitter and Angry Birds!!

Where the heck is this $79 deal for Aperture? Do you have a link?

I would consider it but all links lead to $199 and the App Store seems terribly screwed up leading me into a labyrinth of things I don't want - the aperture link led me to itunes

Yeah this worked for me. When you get the prompt to agree to a new set of terms and conditions thats when you know it's working.

I must say, the mac app store is very impressive. Super responsive, apps download immediately. Great execution!!

No new iWork spoils it for me, but the new Aperture pricing is sweet.

Tried buying MindNode (free), but it seems it's not working yet... (edit: will try rebooting)

Would love to see Xcode on the store, too. Make the tools super easy to get.

I downloaded it around 8:40am Eastern time. I restarted and installed a couple apps. Works as expected. I wanted to try it quickly before tons of people started using it and it started to bog down.

One thing I don't appreciate is every app I install going into my dock. I like Angry Birds, but not enough to have it in my dock. Same goes for Twitter. I wonder if there is/will be an option to customize this? I guess Lion will have the Mission Control feature so maybe it will stop doing this.

It's only $29.00, it totally stable - just update what's the problem here???

Some software, like the previous version of Final Cut Studio and many plugins, haven't been working too well with Snow Leopard.

A 3rd party issue, but an issue nonetheless.

I am guessing that the next FCS version (expected around April) will be available in the app store.

I'd hope so, but I really don't want to wait HOURS downloading what may be 20GB+ of info . . . that's 20GB only if Apple decides to keep all the templates and audio samples the same and just provide a download for upgraders. New users will have to pull the entire 50GBs.
