I am very happy to see Apple doing this. Way to go! Now lets see them handle Final Cut Studio!

Interesting ... it shows me the applications from iLife and iWork as "installed". Does this work only for Apple products or is that something that every software manufacture can implement?
I don't think that updates will be handled by the Appstore for apps that weren't bought from there.

Not sure but I already had a couple of non-Apple products installed and they were already listed as 'installed'.
I don't have it yet. Is that officially how it works? That one feature would make it worth having all by itself. What I really like about this is after I do a clean install of the OS, all downloaded apps from the store are installed without having to hunt for websites or manage DMG files.
Indeed. If I'm reading this right, they're moving their whole retail operation to the Mac App Store. http://www.pixelmator.com/transition/
I was unsure about how a Mac App Store would look/feel, but now that I have it, I think it's brilliant. It gives smaller developers a much greater chance to reach their intended audience.
I like.

OK.. this Mac App Store is a bad thing. It's way too easy for me to open my wallet now!
I think that's the point. $80 Aperture is what's tempting me.
Hard to imagine that, given the size of the OS releases. Maybe Apple will move to releasing new versions of OSX to USB flash sticks, similar to the recovery module shipped with the MBA?Is it possible that Apple will start offering new OSes (ie. Lion) through the Mac App Store? Would certainly help MBA owners who don't have a USB optical drive (and honestly, who wants to buy one of those?).
Bejeweled 3 for $19.99 ??? Not sure if I am spoiled by the iPhone/iPad prices but that seems to be way too much and from the screenshots it looks like just a blown up version of Bejeweled from the iPhone.
It doesn't seem to do all of them. I have Pixelmator and GarageSale installed, but doesn't show that in the App Store.
Also, when you are purchasing something shouldn't it ask for approval before buying?

That hasn't worked for any of my third party apps that are in the app store (TextWrangler, PCalc, Mariner Paperless, ...). I don't have current versions of iLife/iWork so I don't expect them to show up.
If it's listed as "installed" does it somehow show in your "purchases" tab?
