Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.6.6 and Launches Mac App Store

That hasn't worked for any of my third party apps that are in the app store (TextWrangler, PCalc, Mariner Paperless, ...). I don't have current versions of iLife/iWork so I don't expect them to show up.

If it's listed as "installed" does it somehow show in your "purchases" tab?

B

For instance I already had Caffeine installed and it correctly stated it as 'installed' but it correctly doesn't list it under my purchases.

Is anybody else getting "We could not complete your APp Store request. An unknown error occurred (100)" ?

I'd call Apple and b*tch about that. Maybe they'll toss you some App store credit or something, but seriously...I know it's a chance we all take when we bought something, but it's not like you knew it would be on the app store.

I'd call. you never know. Just present your case sternly and then escalate from there. Politeness does go far these days I find.
good luck!

I think I may try calling. The worst they can do is say no, and then I'm in the same position as now. Definitely worth a try.

Hey Guys,

A little off topic, but what's better: Pixelmator or Aperture?

Apples and oranges. Pixelmator is best used for artistic modification of, or creation of images.

If all you do is store, and clean up photos, Aperture is probably a better fit. If you're more interest in creating artwork, Pixelmator is the way to go. Otherwise, consider both as complimentary tools.

(I should qualify the above with the fact that Pixelmator's key strength is the speed with which it applies effects, making it great for trying ideas. Even if the same result could be achieved in Aperture, Pixelmator is just *fast*).

Nope - was the first thing I checked, it does not show up in "purchased"

So Leopard 10.5 users aren't invited to this party either...unless we pay to upgrade to SL. Hurrumph!
What makes you so grumpy ? We've been used to buy Mac OS X for 129$ for quite a long time, but now, you can get Mac OS X Snow Leopard (29$) and Aperture (~79$) together for 108$... Is it that horrible ?

Nice... I have a mac mini and a macbook. Downloaded the appstore on the macbook first and downloaded twitter.

Now... I try to login with my itunes account on the mac mini... It does not work, it declines my credit card... even though it doesnt on the macbook.

Are the accounts only going to work on ONE mac?

not sure if I like that it automatically creates an entry in my dock - that one is already crowded with my most used apps - but than, it's just one drag to remove them from there (and makes it probably easier for the not so technical user to find the apps)

Agreed. This should be an option that we can set.

Had to close and then restart App Store. I then signed into my account and then it allowed me to check the terms and agreements.

Give it a shot.

No iWork '11 in sight. Sigh.

Also, I noticed that the App Store recognized that I have iLife 11 already installed on my Mac, but it doesn't recognize I have iWork 09 installed. Interesting.

if you run the latest iWork update, then open the app store it will then show iwork apps are installed

Yeah, a great deal. I don't have the words to describe how SCREWED I feel again. I've paid 300 bucks for Aperture and bought every update on the way.

Now they sell Aperture 3 for LESS than I have paid for the 3.0 upgrade, and according to their advertisements, I can install the AppStore version on as many devices as I own, while the license for the boxed version only allowed for the installation on ONE desktop machine and ONE notebook.

Or do I now magically get the same license for my version of Aperture? Or can I register it and get it turned into an AppStore version?

This also wonderfully completely destroys the resell value of my retail copy of Aperture 3, should I have decided to switch to Lightroom or Bibble.

Being an Apple customer is an idiot proof way to quickly lose a lot of money.

Keep in mind, your boxed version is resealable. The App store version is not, it should cost less.

Out of business

Great, not only is the Mac one step closer to being a closed platform (if you think that's crazy talk, sake a step back, a fresh breath of air, and a wider look at what Apple's been up to in the last five years) but all of us small utility shareware businesses are one step closer to going out of business.

Hhow many cool tools do you use that require an admin password? Those alone are not allowed on the "Mac AppStore"

********.

I just downloaded and installed Evernote through the App Store and synced it to my phone.

The App Store improves the download and install process by taking care of everything. No messy files to trash from the download folder.

I wonder how well the update function will work.

Maybe that person has a PPC Mac?
I can't wait to put my 10 year old baby to rest.
(PMG4 867Mhz 1.5GB 60/120GBATI 9000 Pro from 2001) I like but it just won't do what I need it to do anymore. It can barley handle the internet anymore

i didnt think i had any interest in the app store, but there are a lot of free games that are full featured (not gimped!) and NOT full of ads. Cant go wrong with that.

iWeb

It was already disappointing that iWeb didn't get any decent update with iLife'11 - I use it for all my (simple) web pages. But what does it mean that it does not show up in the Mac AppStore? Is this the end of iWeb? Please don't!

No new iWork spoils it for me, but the new Aperture pricing is sweet.

Tried buying MindNode (free), but it seems it's not working yet... (edit: will try rebooting)

Would love to see Xcode on the store, too. Make the tools super easy to get.

They are on your install disk, how much easier could it be?

Is it just me? The Mac App Store app worked fine for browsing apps, but once I clicked the FREE button to download an app, the whole App Store hanged and I had to force quit it, Damn!
