Ummmm... this update totally screwed up my system graphics. If you move a window around it looks like scanlines get bigger and smaller every other line. My text all looks aliased and way too sharp... Look at the screens

Apple's content distribution system might limit download rates, but I think they have pretty fat pipes and want you to get your downloads as soon as possible.

I think you're talking about 10.7 for your second question, and yes, you'll be able to use an iTunes card to buy it just as you would anything else from the App Store. Some places provide a slight discount on $50 and $100 cards.

Thanks a ton. Haha yes I was referring to 10.7, I should have said so.

Installed the combo on both a late 2008 MBP and a 2010 MP. Both installations are working perfectly. I ran through a few apps, Rippit, A3 and PS CS 5 are working fine. Good job Apple.

Apple has no CDN (Content Distribution Network) - they pay Akamai for the service.

Smart move, IMO. Who knows what would happen if the MobileMe bozos were given the task of building a network to distribute bandwidth load.

Apple is known to use multiple CDNs, and, maybe something is trickling out of North Carolina. Besides, saying "Apple's content distribution" system would include their using Akamai, or another, right?

MobileMe was pretty bad, Steve has promised that they've got it right with iCloud. In a few weeks we'll know.

Guys, I think they really did something bad to the graphics. Try going to a resolution below 1680x1050 they all look garbled and screwed up.

You guys might not care but if you're a Mac gamer you sometimes need to use the lower settings..... this is unacceptable.

PLEASE DONT POST COMMENTS THAT SAY "I'M DOWNLOADING IT NOW."

Every time there's an OS update we get like 3 pages of people saying things like "I'm downloading it now" and "It says 30 more minutes till my download is done" etc. Please just wait until your download has been finished and fully installed and you have something worthwhile to say about it. Even if you're just saying "I've installed it and everything is running fine and I see no changes" at least that gives us some small amount of relevant info.

Thanks. :)

As logical as that seems do you think anybody will listen? In addition to the "I am downloading it now" comments there is always somebody that says "Every time there's an OS update we get like 3 pages of people saying things like "I'm downloading it now"

They are both just as redundant. If you think your comments will stop retards from making comments, then I don't know what to say.

BTW I have 13 minutes left in my download.

My download took about 4mins around 5pm today.

working fine on a 2.16ghz c2d macbook pro 15"

However I did run disk utility before the install to repair permissions.

installed on MBP. Working fine :)

Not for me. Both my Macbook Pro and Mac Pro could not complete the installation after running for almost 4 hours. It just hung at the end. Trying again on the MBP and it seems to be still hanging.

Downloading the full combo update worked!

Apple bought Akami a few years back actually so they are their own service. You don't have to pay for something you already own.

I can't find any reference of Akamai being owned by Apple. There are references to a partnership and even the possibility of Apple dumping Akamai, but not owning them.

Akamai technologies offers high bandwidth distributed networks and companies like Apple and Microsoft use them. Apple is just a customer of Akamai.

not ready for prime time

Now, my cursor flickers on any web browser, especially when hovering over photos or movies.

This on a loaded Mac Pro with a Quadro 4000 card. Haven't checked on the other machines yet as I'm a bit disgusted and want to go to bed.

Hopefully, they'll fix this PRONTO.
