LMAO, come on man!

You changed your ways to suit the OS? I'd understand if you were use to inverted but the OP is correct. It should not be defaulted inverted.

I bet you were also "holding it wrong". I love my apple gadgets, but thats a bit borderline ridiculous.

No, its not. You're not changing your ways to suit the OS. You are seeing if the new way works better. And honestly on trackpads the new way DOES work better. On mice, the old way works better.

Yup. This is what I find as well. Scroll wheels work best non-inverted, but I was able to switch in under a minute with the trackpad. It was surprisingly natural.

But it really depends on all the other work on scrolling done in the OS. Without the rubber banding cues and inertial scrolling, it wouldn't be nearly as good. Those cues that tell the brain how it is working.

Lion, 10.7, the end of Mac OSX as we know it and love it.

Now your Mac will become and iPad with a keyboard!

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear that you need the computer to tell you what is and is not appropriate capitalization and punctuation. Wow...

So I guess that Gold Master rumor was wrong.

And still is. To even repeat that stupid rumor in this article is ridiculous. Tech Crunch needs to go stick their heads in the sand. They might find more realistic news there.

Apple is obviously still playing with interface and some app designs. Gives me hope we might see some unified updates all around and maybe the death of Aqua which looks really really dated, and the flattened metal look is old news too.

Generally, GM builds don't have known bugs, which this build does contain.

This build may be a lot closer to the final build, but there's still a lot of issues that need fixing.

I totally agree. Those are the kind of iOS features that definitely should come to OS X.

LMAO, come on man!

You changed your ways to suit the OS? I'd understand if you were use to inverted but the OP is correct. It should not be defaulted inverted.

I bet you were also "holding it wrong". I love my apple gadgets, but thats a bit borderline ridiculous.

No, actually you're borderline ridiculous (without the borderline part).

He's ridiculous for making an effort and willingness to adapt, and after an adjustment phase finding the new system more natural? You do realize that you find thing natural/normal not because of their inherent logic, but because you're simply used to doing thing that way, right? Does that mean companies should throw innovation out the window, and keep things EXACTLY as they have been, because users are accustomed to it, even if there may be a potentially better way to do something, involving a small effort from users to learn? In the case of the trackpad, if you view it as manipulating a physical interface directly tied to onscreen elements, like the iPhone, then inverted scrolling makes perfect sense. I actually also had a suspicion they may do this, to unify the concept. And- guess what- if you hate it, you can take 5 seconds to turn it off.

I moved to a new country a year ago. Am I ridiculous for 'changing my ways' to suit the society and culture, which are worlds apart from the country I used to live in? Are they 'doing it wrong'? Initially yes, I thought they were. And I was miserable, because everyone around me was behaving in a way that I wasn't accustomed to, as well as societal normals, principles. values, interaction dynamics, etc. But I gradually learned that they weren't doing it 'wrong' , just 'differently'. And thus I let myself open my mind, see things from another perspective. I eventually became much happier and comfortable, because I let myself adapt and adopt culture, customs, behavior, etc. and became more flexible. I 'changed myself' but in a good way. The ability to change when needed is important. The trackpad issue is something trivial by comparison, but your mentality is hubristic and silly - 'I've ben doing it this way for so long, and so am unwilling to try a new system, just because it might take a bit of effort/discomfort from my part. And somehow, you believe that you have the 'superior' view on this, because of your utter lack of imagination. Thank God not everyone thinks like you, or the human race would have never progressed.

It seems legitimate enough... Although the reality of that story is Apple chose to pay some guy who was down on his luck and he lost some patents to public domain a bit of change and a trip to California as opposed to potentially have to pay Burst millions and 10s of millions of dollars or even more on their patent claims.

Ah yes on the outside the Daily Mail is a genuine proper news paper but it does not take long to peel behind the veneer of respectability.

Groups like this are just a reality of how mad it is

And then I find articles like this offensive/misleading and fundamentally flawed:

I want to know
1.) has the battery life + CPU and memory usage been improved?

I need to take my Air to class and work, and i was getting about 2 hours cut off with Lion compared to 10.6

That and it was eating my RAM for breakfast.

Where is the changelog?

I've not seen the one answered, simply no

My Air sounds like an aircraft taking off. The fans hardly ever kicked in when using snow leopard, now they're permanently on. The battery life is sub two hours, it seems to be because Launchpad is permanently using close to 100% cpu usage. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn this off

Just a question, are you using Safari 5.1? the new model is probably going to be a wee bit more CPU intensive but I'd say most of what you're experiencing has more to do with the lack of optimisation at this point rather than anything that is inherently so bad that you'll have to suffer with when it is eventually released. If their release cycle is anything like the old 'Solaris Express' then in the case of Preview 2 you're probably seeing a build minus a few features and has been semi-stablised so that you can use it but don't expect to use it for more than just some testing, fiddling around, checking out new features etc. For example the Webkit2 build in Preview 2 is behind the current process that Apple has got in place so don't be surprised if we end up seeing another preview maybe at the end of april/middle may, then something like a preview 3 shown off at WWDC which will be 99.999% complete with a few things needing tweaked here and there.

Edit: Apple has started a new programme called 'AppleSeed' that appears to be providing regular builds to high profile customers:

https://appleseed.apple.com/

Hopefully this will translate into big names like Adobe getting their head in the door to fix issues quickly.

Of course but the lone sane voices such as yours and a few others are always going to be drowned out by those in a fit of hysterics - amazing how AppleInsider (the cringeworthy website of all cringeworthies) has had a great series on features being added and parts that have been overhauled in the next version of Mac OS X. Everytime I hear some idiot go on "oh, there are no features" grab them by the scruff of the neck and point them to that website - there are features added, many of them completely unrelated to iOS but that won't stop the doom and gloom merchants. I swear are these people from Windows forums who troll this forum for the lulz or something? it is the only way I can logically explain how individuals can ignore so much evidence in favour of perpetuating the same disproven nonsense.

Yes, i'm using Safari 5.1. The problem is Launchpad though, it seems to be hogging system resources quite aggressively for some reason. There are other bugs of course, but this is the one that is sapping the battery life on my Air and causing the fans to stay on permanently.

Is anyone noticing any third party apps being broken by 10.7? Just curious.

apparently my 9690sa raid card is not working under 11a419, was the same with the first developer preview too. This is quite a painful thing for me as I cannot see 2 of my sas drives. The driver install package would require rosetta support which is missing from lion. Any thoughts how to resolve?

Read the update. Tech crunch reports this is the internal gm1 build

I certainly hope it isn't the GM1 build because it's still buggy as hell on my 20" iMac
