LMAO, come on man!
You changed your ways to suit the OS? I'd understand if you were use to inverted but the OP is correct. It should not be defaulted inverted.
I bet you were also "holding it wrong". I love my apple gadgets, but thats a bit borderline ridiculous.
No, actually you're borderline ridiculous (without the borderline part).
He's ridiculous for making an effort and willingness to adapt, and after an adjustment phase finding the new system more natural? You do realize that you find thing natural/normal not because of their inherent logic, but because you're simply used to doing thing that way, right? Does that mean companies should throw innovation out the window, and keep things EXACTLY as they have been, because users are accustomed to it, even if there may be a potentially better way to do something, involving a small effort from users to learn? In the case of the trackpad, if you view it as manipulating a physical interface directly tied to onscreen elements, like the iPhone, then inverted scrolling makes perfect sense. I actually also had a suspicion they may do this, to unify the concept. And- guess what- if you hate it, you can take 5 seconds to turn it off.
I moved to a new country a year ago. Am I ridiculous for 'changing my ways' to suit the society and culture, which are worlds apart from the country I used to live in? Are they 'doing it wrong'? Initially yes, I thought they were. And I was miserable, because everyone around me was behaving in a way that I wasn't accustomed to, as well as societal normals, principles. values, interaction dynamics, etc. But I gradually learned that they weren't doing it 'wrong' , just 'differently'. And thus I let myself open my mind, see things from another perspective. I eventually became much happier and comfortable, because I let myself adapt and adopt culture, customs, behavior, etc. and became more flexible. I 'changed myself' but in a good way. The ability to change when needed is important. The trackpad issue is something trivial by comparison, but your mentality is hubristic and silly - 'I've ben doing it this way for so long, and so am unwilling to try a new system, just because it might take a bit of effort/discomfort from my part. And somehow, you believe that you have the 'superior' view on this, because of your utter lack of imagination. Thank God not everyone thinks like you, or the human race would have never progressed.
