As they stand currently you couldn't make a living from them.
We aren't talking a short transition period either. I don't think jobs is talking about you when he talks about postpc era either. In many ways apple have always been post pc. They target people who's work is defined by what they produce and have the freedom to choose the tools to get that done. The pc era was defined by the beige box that some nameless corporate type would buy by the truck from Dell to sit on everyone's desk so they can work.
That is the era of computing that is done for. It'll move to out of sight clusters with semi articulate terminals powered by cheap lower power arm processors. People who choose their own tools will more and more buy their own tools like they did pre pc.

If you're looking for minor UI updates, that's exactly what Lion is getting?
The scroll bars are changed to be more iOS-like, windows are resizable from any corner, the buttons (and checkboxes AFAIK) are changed to no longer be Aqua styled. Small changes, but the sum of them is pretty substantial: All remaining traces of Aqua should now be gone.
I was sharing this because I found it interesting, its supposed to be just 384MB shared. Just thinking if Lion enables more memory shared??
No it's doesn't. Snow Leopard also reports 512MB

It's funny if Apple is going to use App Store then the GM can be a month or mre closer to release date than when they distributed on disk. Why would they in that case make it months earlier?

Sounds just like some bloke from Apple. Snow Leopard's the last of the true desktop OS's. Lion is the bridge, and whatever follows will either be primarily iOS, or so close it's of little consequence. I'm so glad I hung onto my 2010 MBP.
Let's not forget it was the iPod that saved Apple and marked it's beginning as a gadget & entertaiment company. I had a nasty feeling then it would mark the decline of Apples great computers & here we are. How ironic it is that most people are unaware that a Brit actually invented the iPod and like so many other things, Apple stole the thing and ran with it. True "innovators" at Apple, yeah right.
iOS has good features like full screen, launchpad, invisible scrollbars, AppStore. And Apple is just incorporating those features, and so far so good imo.
I doubt they'll lock down OS X because we still need to use it to develop on, don't be afraid just embrace the new features you like.
Please educate me - I am apparently one of the ironically unaware people. Who invented the iPod? Are you talking about MP3 players in general, or specifically the iPod with scroll wheel, white design etc? Or are you just talking about Jonny Ive? I am intrigued by this fact that you are aware of but most other people aren't.
I would also argue that Apple aren't necessarily innovators, but what they do better than anyone else is spot the Next Big Thing and then manage to make it look so good and work so well that it becomes incredibly popular. This was the case with the MP3 player, the smartphone, touchscreens, tablets... and those are just the primary examples.
Really? In what sick and twisted world are you living? What's so very different in Lion that it's "not true desktop OS"? Launchpad the end of all?

Enjoy your brand new 129$ Mac OS X latest revision (the most advanced, the most unique, the most... bla bla bla bla...) carrying more than XXX features (aka... just making the Mac OS X experience more iOS-alike so you get used to AppStore since soon you'll have to go through this method of delivery as there won't be any other one, because Mr. Jobs wants more money...)

Though I'm not surprise... there's nothing shocking that they can implement. This "update" is aimed at training people into AppStore (aka money)... and they even charge for it

I've been using the inverted scrolling for a few weeks. At first, it was very weird and found myself scrolling the wrong way often. However, after a few day, I started to "get" the metaphor and it became natural. Now when I go to work and use their computers, I feel the scrolling on XP is the opposite of what feels natural.
If it only took me a few days to reverse over a decade of training and muscle memory, then maybe it's not that a stupid setting.

Does anyone know if you can now print highlighted text like you can in Windows? Since they're adding the age old full-screen window feature, I think this feature would also be a welcome addition.

Kindly enlighten me as to which "Solution" you are talking about? If it's the font cache thing, then guess what? That was the first thing I tried, and I didn't need google to help me there - it does nothing to fix it. You seem to be confusing me with someone who has no knowledge of mac systems. I'll have you know I've been using macs since the SE, so I know a bit about them. My business depends on them working. I'm not some dumb kid who just uses a computer to play games and waste time on the net.

You changed your ways to suit the OS? I'd understand if you were use to inverted but the OP is correct. It should not be defaulted inverted.
