My system had the public beta RC3 installed, it was the same build as the final release. I "un-enrolled" from the beta program and now 11.2.1 is downloading.
Tell that to other angry member, not me. I'm not the one with the issue. I only offered a suggestion. I don't care one way or the other if he gets his issue fixed. He's very rude.

Release notes tend not to be exhaustive. There could well be other changes not seen as worthy of making the release notes.
Not even the bog standard "This update also includes bug fixes and other improvements" though? I'd really like to know what's the point of an update, especially if I am to risk it breaking more stuff than it's supposed to fix.

Reading the install notes would greatly help you. 🙄
Go ahead and read them for me and let me know what you find.

Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices.

The link another forum member posted that's slightly more informative ( https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212177 ) is not included there. Am I supposed to chase down installation notes on Forums? (I do anyway because I'm a nerd but come on)

Is anyone else seeing unusual behaviour of Quick Look in Finder when looking at screenshots?

I have two screenshots of Mail's 'About' window made before and after updating to 11.2.1. The earlier one shows as expected, but the latter one (and other screenshots made after) are being enlarged by Quick Look to the extent you can see pixellation. I've checked both screenshots and they are the same image type and approx. sizes.

Apple, Please fix the shutdown bug on Intel Macs, I have this wierd Shutdown bug in which the Mac doesn't get shut down, instead it freezes and the Touchpad gets frozen and won't click (I know its force touch trackpad but it won't work if system freezes).

I tried SMC and NVRAM resets it doesn't work, I have MBP 2020 I5 -$1799 model and apple needs to address this issue as I have same in my dad's MBP 2019 i5 MAC

List of updated files on the system partition:

sudo, the mentioned battery/power stuff, Bluetooth, Intel graphics drivers (as mentioned), HID drivers, and a few other random odds and ends.

I'm surprised to see so many changes to Bluetooth-related files; maybe they're still working on fixing those issues.
I hope so, still having a lot of Bluetooth issues.

Why would I download and install something that has nothing to do with my machine? Apple?

Because of what you cropped out. :)

eta: Like all macOS updates, the notes don't include everything. However, they do include a reference to security fixes. That includes CVE-2021-3156, which is an important fix. Not only is this not a "skip it" update, it's not even really a "I'll get to it tomorrow" update.

Apple should really rework the update process.

2.5 GB Download for each of my Macs und installing the update takes forever... That is one of the things Linux is much better at.

Just started having this issue last night. Unfortunately the computer is now completely dead and won't charge, so how am I supposed to install the update? 🤔

Yeah and Linux has very little commercial software available for it and other than ordering business machines that require a request for Linux you certainly won't find any Linux-based PC sold in stores. Nobody cares about Linux like that other than Thinkpad users who hate Windows. LMAO comparing Apple's update process to Linux. 😂😂😂

You mean it does not even work with power cable plugged in?

I hope it was able to run reliably off the power adapter, since otherwise they've only got so long to install this.
Nope, not running off power adapter. Completely died and can't install update! Taking it to genius later today, fingers crossed.

If you're concerned about data usage, turn on content caching on one of your Macs. This is located in System Preferences -> Sharing, at the bottom of the list. Preferably do this on your Mac that has the most disk space, a desktop like an iMac or Mac Mini that is on most of the time. Adjust the slider to the amount of disk space you feel comfortable using for this. I have mine at 50GB which is enough for most things.

Then only the first Mac has to download the update. The remaining machines will grab the update from the Content Caching Mac. Devices will find the content caching Mac automatically; you don't have to do anything but make sure it's turned on before you update the first machine.

This will cache pretty much everything, too. iOS updates, and also iCloud content. Like, if you take a photo on your iPhone and it uploads to iCloud, the Caching machine will cache that and when iCloud Photos syncs on your other devices it pulls from the cache. It's a pretty sweet feature.

It should be available for Mojave and Catalina according to release notes.
Yes for Mojave it is noted as "macOS Mojave Security Update 2021-002", but for Catalina, "macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Supplemental Update". I have a T1 15" MBP 2017 on Cat and have seen no battery charging issues since installing "macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Security Update 2021-001" on 2/2/21. I realize this is a BS thread, but there is not one for Cat yet on this subject. I will give this a day before updating. They must have missed something to have this come out 8 days after the previous...
