Well, these updates are nice and all. But I want an fix for the bluetooth issues Mac mini M1 has.
took a lot longer for me - as a matter of fact I thought it was in an update loop since it got to a certain point that I thought was near the end and then went blank and the bar started again. Thought I was going to have to restore but then it finally ended. So be patient

How long does this small fix take to install? 20 minutes? Half an hour?

I used to joke about Windows updates taking forever.. Mac ones are getting retarded as well. It's like it's compiling the patch source code, then patching the files. Even with a solid state drive, it shouldn't take 20 minutes to do 'small updates' where the computer is completely useless until it's done.

I don't think it is that big a deal. Start the update when you aren't in need of the Mac. Problem solved.

Nope, doesn't need virtualisation, KP occurs on M1 and Intel Macs.
Do you have Homebrew installed?

Check this thread:

For the external monitor, my max output resolution is 1080p (if I'm lucky). 720p in most cases. Different cables, ports, factory resetting the monitor, along with all the usual SMC/NVRAM resets and erasing my SSD and reinstalling macOS from scratch all haven't worked.
Did you try the plist deletion that someone posted another thread regarding monitors and M1 macs.

"An error occurred while downloading the selected updates. Please check your internet connection and try again."

🤨

That happened to me - once - for this update. I tried again and it was OK.

Updates are distributed through a Content Delivery Network. They are not perfect.

Small improvement with palm rejection. Instead of both meaty parts of my palm that can move the mouse pointer it's now just one meaty part but still worse than a $500 Windows laptop.

You're mousing it wrong.

Yes, I just installed it on my Mojave VM. Apple is maintaining a Safari 14 fork for these two older systems. However, it appears unrelated to the Big Sur update, which updates the underlying WebKit libraries (this is what requires the reboot.) Likely this will be rolled into their security updates, which will coincide with 11.3.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Big Sur Safari build number also went up similarly, but WebKit, not Safari, is what the excitement was about here. :)
It's more likely that the fix for Mojave and Catalina can be applied in a different way, in no small part due to the sealed system volume in Big Sur. Apple isn't going to send out a security advisory claiming that the Webkit vulnerability is fixed in Mojave and Catalina and then not actually fix it until the next security update.

I hate these type of updates because they are just random. And they don’t really do anything to upgrade your device. These updates are mostly useless unless there is like an extreme glitch that Apple has to patch.

Not that I was expecting much from a security update but damn, computer restarted and 5GB or RAM instantly used with nothing running in the background. Nice Apple.

Do you have a data cap problem? Would you rather Apple didn't protect your Mac? Downloading 3GB takes minutes from the Apple server, unless you have very slow internet. If that is the case, download overnight. Not a big deal.
It is a big deal, huge download and then a 20-30min installation on an M1. Apple is making windows update look good by comparison. Why are they all so big? It's like a full system install every freakin time!

I used to not care about this much, but Big Sur has been so awful and buggy for my business that I'm pushing every upgrade ASAP. Maybe they'll finally finish this operating system by the time the new MacBook Pros launch. 😩
More likely they’ll have Big Sur finished once MacOS 12 is ready to roll out.

Does anyone else think this “Preparing Update... about 15 seconds remaining...” is just not being truthful 😂😂😂

Maybe it’s due to the amount of ram other Apps were using at the time of the update. Just curious if anyone found this update to be a fast installer or if it’s a really slow one.

Nothing fixed with 11.2.3, my main issues are:

- still not able to just shutting down the macbook without a kernel panic and a reboot
- external monitor support still worse, doesn't gets detected, lost the settings
- Swapping as same as before, SSD gets written gigabytes in seconds

Same as the 11.3 beta 3, nothing has been fixed.
Don't know which machine you have, but consider a fresh install.

Grabbed the Safari update for Catalina.

Seems like a step backwards to need a full OS update on Big Sur, (thinking back to when we had to OS updates to get Safari updates) although maybe the issue is more than Safari on BS.

If you don’t see the update:

1 Open Music app 🎵

2 Play Easy Listening for 1 hour 👂

3 Open Software Update

You should see the update now.

Definitely +1 for that today.

Mine was installing and actually said "100% Complete" and then ten seconds later said "12 minutes remaining"...

Wait, what? :)
