I don’t care. I swiched to Firefox on both iOS and macOS. It’s a better browser anyway with better privacy.
I agree with you. Unfortunately it has one particular behavior with its developer tools (obviously few users would care) that causes issues for me. So, since I prefer to stick with one browser for work and home, I use Safari - which offers surprisingly good developer tools.

If it weren't for that, I'd be a Firefox user for sure. So maybe when I retire I'll return to Firefox. 😆

The last reason I still care about Safari is the restrictions on iOS and iPadOS. If fully functional browsers are accepted, I will dump Safari completely like how I did on macOS. Safari’s unstable syncing, outdated techniques and buggy developer tools have occurred for years but no effort was done.

If you're going to copy an idea from Firefox, at least do a better job than the **** that Mozilla did. The new Safari UI is Proton with tabs below the URL bar.

I don't mind safari 15 at all. I like the new tabs design and the general refinement of the UI.
Still I only use it for personal browsing.

For work I use Firefox which is just a superior browser all the way.

Safari 15 is a beta software, but I love new tab design on all platforms, especially iOS (completely got used to tabs on the bottom and one handed operations are very convenient and quick now).

I have to say though - first thing I do is turning off Tab coloring, since that looks completely out of place. Takes courage to make it a default look for sure.

As many mentioned - sometimes a wrong tab can be closed though (especially of tons are opened), since there is not enough shading on the current / open tab.

That is, the only thing that really lacks is a bit of tweaking design wise of the active tab shading. Various shading grades and even colors should be provided so that everyone can find the right setting.

Since there is a way to get back to the old tab design, there does not seem to be any other problem design wise.

IMO: favorites above tabs just look so wrong though. Especially on the screenshot above. But well, if somebody likes it that way - an option to choose tabs bar below favorites will make those users happy too.

Apple Designers, just give options to users in settings. Apple programmers, just focus on stability which is badly lacking at the moment. Crashes, inconsistent sync of Tab Groups - it has been a rough ride with Safari 15.

I just went back to chrome. safari sucks.
I have used Safari 99.99% of the time since about 2 decades ago, that's what I use.
Downloaded Chrome just to see what it is but... 1. I don't like *Google and 2. I don't like Chrome, it was, for a long time, a RAM/CPU intensive proces, lots of people complained about it.
I have lots of other browsers for the rare occasion Safari won't work, like Brave (Mostly) and Firefox amongst others.

* I hate Google to the core.

Apple designers trying to reinvent the wheel with a web browser and tabs.. just leave it! You cannot all of a sudden change the behaviour and format of a web browser

Does this change the “Export as PDF” behavior? After updating to 15, exporting to PDF would autofill with the unedited page url as the file name. Before, it would default to the actual page title, as formatted by the page. Much more helpful having the formatted page title as the default.

A company like Apple can't win. They leave things the same and people bitch "This is outdated". They change and "The sky is falling".

Honestly I would normally agree with you.

Unlike a lot of people I enjoyed and embraced Big Sur's radical redesign, and even though I have some minor grievances with it, on the whole I'm glad they did it.

Still, to me, this Safari redesign doesn't even look at home within Big Sur. I'm just crossing everything in the hopes they don't expand these 'tabs' to other parts of the OS.

I’m not a developer of any kind so I can’t feel your pain. But I just want to say that I’m very pleased with Firefox on all fronts. I don’t get the hate it gets from some people, especially Chrome users.

The annoyance for me is on iOS where the address bar is at the bottom, but the "Cancel" button is on the top—it's a stretch on an iPhone Max. But presumably I'll get used to it...

Not sure what you mean by "cancel" button though. What is it?:)

If I start typing in the address bar, then want to stay on the current page, I need to press cancel...

I see now...

Well, in such case I could suggest swiping to the left on the address bar of the active tab and then type the address in a new opened tab. That way, even if there will be a mistake you could just close the wrong tab with couple of swipes.

Overall though, this bottom address bar position seems like almost completely eliminated the "finger stretch" exercise when browsing web on the big iPhone.
