After receiving the error after hitting 1GB, I tried starting over again. It stalled out at 220.2MB. So, I restarted my MBP, and tried again from scratch. And yet again, it has stalled at 220.2 MB, giving me a 2-day estimate to complete. Seriously, Apple needs to do something with their servers.

Yes, fill them with M1 machines 😁
But maybe that’s what is going to happen? More speed, less power ...

Well, if anyone was on the fence about upgrading to Big Sur, this download issue should've helped you decide to wait...since you have to wait 3 days to finish downloading anyways.

Mine failed as well around 1 GB. Perhaps Apple forgot they sold a sh*t load of Macs last quarter?
