Apple Releases macOS Catalina Supplemental Update With Fixes for Installation, iCloud Login, and Game Center Bugs

Let's see...splitting a boot device into a "Volume Group" with distinct volumes for the system (read-only) and user data, while still looking like a single volume and largely working like one...no, nothing "major" here at all. :)

The APFS system is not new, its 2 yeas old.

Certainly the buggiest update I've experienced in 17 years of Mac ownership - Sidecar connects to iPad, but only shows a black screen, Apple ID constantly asking me to log in, something gone very wrong with bluetooth where it randomly disconnects all devices but also causes warbling audio issues (a significant issues when running webinars for work), and its also borked webex screen/app sharing (webex insists their app is up to date and compaitble, so issue is on my side).

All in all, really wish I'd waited, some pretty major issues for me (although mail, music etc etc are all fine :) )
So I am not alone in having bluetooth problems.

I have been less than pleased with the need to re-pair my Apple keyboard with my mac Mini.

All developers have known since Snow Leopard, Apple would be switching to 64bit and ditching 32bit.
Since High Sierra, not Snow Leopard. With Snow Leopard there was emphasis on compiling apps for 64-bit but no indication Apple would be breaking 32-bit compatibility. That didn't come until eight years later.

if you rely on 32bit apps, keep using Mojave, its going to be supported for another three years.
Another three years of support with Xcode and iWork? Clearly you haven't been paying much attention to how Apple does things.

Unless you're only referring to security updates, in which case you're going to have to be more specific. Security updates don't help an iOS developer who can't run the latest Xcode.

i have the GM seed that everybody thought was the final and i opted out the beta programme but my software update is not finding this one. Any ideas how to help?

Same here. I really would prefer not to have to install the gigantic GM, given that what I have is pretty much exactly the same code.

So I just gave up and went back to Mojave. How does a fresh install (completely wiped the drive) give more kernel panics than if I do a fresh install of Mojave then upgrade to Catalina? Also, when I have NO software other than what’s included in the operating system.
This makes no sense to me. Mojave never crashes. Windows 10 never crashes, but Catalina crashes 4+ times a day.

Your only option is to download the release version. The good news is that the current installer includes the supplemental update.

I looked at the download page before going into the App Store, but nothing was - and still isn't - posted there. I'll look again in a day or two (if 10.15.1 doesn't come out before I remember to do that.)

I did unenroll from the Beta, almost immediately after installing the GM. :)
For everyone who couldn't get the Supplemental update because they installed the GM and then unenrolled from the beta track, I may have found a solution**:

I reenrolled into the beta program, installed the 10.15.1 beta (and the second version of it), then went to the App Store and "got" the regular Catalina, and unenrolled again (after it had installed).

** It worked for me! I'm now on the regular track with build 19A602 :)

The only real issue I've had with this OS on my test machine (bar my DAW plugins not working, but that was expected) is I can't drag a file to dropbox on the sidebar, I have to hover over it, let it open the DB folder then drop it in there. All my other cloud folders work as before, always an unexpected new 'feature' when I update.

Sorry to hear about your issues with Illustrator. I ditched it last year for Affinity Designer which occasionally goes on sale. Best money I ever spent.

Upgrading (I did not hesitate... I wish I did) to Catalina went very smooth! But then, nothing than bugs. Like the ones you already prescribed but also for instance files which were just created like screenshots (png) which CANNOT be opened. Only preview using the space bar. Restarting the finder, logging out en in, nothing helps but rebooting! Apps that just quit like Mail, Pages, etc. And even more strange: I got frequently logged out! (first about 20 sec a freezing ‘wheel of death’ - spinning wheel, then black screen as if OS was starting up again but progress bar always at 3 quarters for about 5 sec, then the login screen with all users (guest included) appears! After login, most of the apps were closed (like Pages!) - Sometimes this occurred a minute or so after continuing to work on my MBA. I changed in system preferences to never put the MBA to sleep when screen goes off. Nope, didn't help. Nice job! Catalina is up to now the most unreliable OS ever! More than 25 years never used anything else than Mac and Apple products. Sorry guys, but ever since leaving classic mac os (OS 9), thing went from bad to worse. I would love to pay again each time for an upgrade. At least you were sure that the OS was tested to the bottom and very, very reliable. I cannot remember to had one freeze or had to reboot!! Wait! Wait before you install this upgrade. Or should I say 'downgrade'...
