Actually, the new Music app feels kind of like iTunes used to do in the olden day, up until version 4 or thereabouts, so in a way Music is what iTunes used to be like before it was bloated beyond recognition...
What do you mean by bloated? How is this new app any different? iTunes with Apple Music is actually much better on Mojave than this concoction on Catalina.

It gets about 1/2 though download and says connection lost - but I have it everywhere else.

iTunes used to be about music...then they added Podcasts, TV shows and Movies and whatnot, making it a behemoth of an app.

Now Podcasts and TV (with films) and Music has been split into three separate apps (and iPod/iPhone/iPad syncing has been moved to Finder), making the Music app much, much leaner and more focused.

I - for one - do prefer Music 1.0 over iTunes 12.x, any day. (And I still use iTunes on my work-Mac.)

One issue encountered. On my 2018 mini, after the third restart attempt, note the attempt.. It did not restart. After a 10minute wait I shutdown the mini with the power button. Waited about 20 seconds then started it up again. All went fine after that. Build # 19A583

I don’t see a point here. I assumed the new apps will fly, they don’t, so what’s the point.

Looks like the servers are under immense load at the moment. Tried to download the update and it just failed without any message at 0.5 GB. Tried to update again, started at half a GB, slowly went to 3 GB and then I got the message that my network connection has been disconnected (it has not 😜). Third time's a charm: Started again at 0.5 GB, let's see how it goes.

I have the same problem, but I see an error window that said connection has been lost. This is my 5th attempt to download, at 5.57Gb.
Downloading on wired connection with 100mbps

Given how horrible the betas were, I’m not touching this.

I am the exact opposite. I stopped everything I was doing and downloading and installing immediately. It will solve one problem I am having where I can right mouse click to remove a local copy of a large directory that is in the cloud so that I have more local disk space.

I have old Macs for my 32-bit stuff and backups of everything. I am looking forward to replacing iTunes with that streamlined Music app too.

How is paragon (NTFS for Mac) working? Their KB says: "The current version NTFS for Mac 15.5.53 remains functional after installation under macOS 10.14 and macOS upgrade to 10.15 Beta." Is this still true in final release?

Second. I also need to use Paragon!

I cannot help you with your expectations, only tell you (all) my thoughts on the breakup. :)

BTW, I very much prefer the (new) Podcast app for listening to (and viewing) podcasts, too. That app is _also_ much leaner and usable. (Haven't tried the TV app, as I use my Apple TV for - well - viewing TV.)

One thing to note with the splitting up of the iTunes app The Default folders for content have changed.
Music is "music/music/meda/music"
Movies Tv Is "Movies/tv/media/Downloads-tv (for TV programs) and Movies (for) Movies.
Audio books are added to the books app. Don't now how this works with an upgrade as through beta testing I clean Installed

I’m quite good with computers and I couldn’t even understand how to add the playing song to the library. Thank god I will never have to use iTunes again.

I agree about the podcasts that is much better.

Well, it finished to download the update and now it failed on installing 🤦‍♂️

Does anyone know where the update is stored? I had a failed download and would like to delete and start over.
