Recently disclosed Intel Variant 4 CVE-2018-3639 is not included in the fix.

Do you loose all the security of iMessage when sync it to iCloud? Like when Apple can restore the data of you iCloud backup.

This update is huge considering it just added messages in the cloud as it's main feature and two small enterprise features. It must include a lot of driver updates and security patches.

EDIT: Clocks in at 2.12Gb on my 2013 Macbook pro

Messages in iCloud: delivered on the last business day before it'd be a year since it was announced at the last WWDC. Haha.

There was a time when Apple refrained from vapourware. Today, under Cook, they are beginning a dangerous trend into vapourware that brings the respect level down several "notches".

It is one full year and now they are delivering it. These guys used to perfect things in the back before releasing, and one could buy products and use services right on the day of announcement, not any longer. I do not know why, understand why, but I do not like this trend.

Messages in Cloud: 3 days before iOS 12 instead of shipping with 11.
HomePod was announced to come months later, released even more months later.
iMac Pro, previewed. Why! Just launch when ready!

There used to be pride in it. But I do sincerely feel that any kind of personalisation, any sort of character of a company was lost the day Jobs passed away.

So here's what I don't understand: If I send a message to person X, and then delete that message, assuming this all works like it should, that message will disappear forever from all of the devices I have currently signed into using my iCloud account for messages. But what about the recipient? Will the message live on in their side of the conversation?

What happens if I have an iPhone on 10.1.1, iPhone X on 11.1.2, and Mac on 10.13.5. How does messages in the cloud affect my other devices?

HOO-RAY! Hopefully this solves the issues I was having with the last beta wherein moving a flash drive crashed Finder, and I can't command-click to open folders because Finder "isn't available". Combo update ahoy?

Build version 17F77 in the Dev portal.

Yes, 17F77 is what it says after installing the update.

Well, yes. That is how it has always worked, even before messages in iCloud.

Is there a reason why Apple hadn't released an actual web app 'Messages' on iCloud.com? If they do that, does that means it will hurt iPhone and iPad sales?

I would love that.

Alternatively, iMessages on Windows would be even better... although in that case, I think I'd like to see it for Red Hat and Raspian, too.

Right now, iMessages isn't the best way to contact me, because I don't look at my phone much while I'm at work.

It will. Their thread of conversation with you is independent of your side of conversation thread with them.

Ive had iCloud messages on my phone only for the past few days and I have to say its quite interesting/confusing.

According to storage, it seems messages take up almost no space on my phone - possibly only storing locally the messages from the past backup or upload. Though there doesn't seem a lag or delay when reading/going through old iMessages which is surprising.

Also, it seems the function to delete individual pics/videos from messages to free up space is gone. I can only "review large attachments" for media stored locally.

When I go to iCloud, I can delete entire threads from the cloud at once, but not the media associated. Not sure if Ill like this.

Only the update is showing up for me, I can't see the full installer (which is what I want)

You need to have your iPhone updated to latest iOS to really see what Messages in iCloud does, otherwise it works like the old way, simple text message forwarding and iMessage, no synced deletion.
