Almost a week later, and the GM still doesn't show up in App Store and says that macOS is up to date (I'm on beta 9). What the hell? Anybody else?

Go to Developer portal and download helper what will enable you to download it.

Jumping from beta to GM has not been possible with update last few years if I remember correctly, you need to download full thing and install it over old one.

And don’t worry about installer still saying that its beta, they will update it when it comes out. Image inside it is still GM even if it says otherwise.

I think reason why they want us to completely to reinstall macOS is remove all extra debug features off from OS what will make it work bit faster.

Really? So, iOS can jump from beta to GM, but macOS can't? That's strange. Thank you btw.

Have you read through this thread? It won't show up in the App Store automatically. You need to redownload the High Sierra beta configurator to from the developer page.

Yeah, I think its due the fact that beta is full of debug features still on, GM build is likely compiled without any debug features. Thus e.g. some kernel actions at boot are faster and OS is slightly faster overall.

I did end up reformatting back to HFS+. I ended up doing it my own way, using Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup to a standard HDD formatted as HFS+. I then updated the bootable backup to the High Sierra GM (which went flawlessly), wiped my internal drives and recreated the fusion drive - and then cloned the bootable backup back to the fusion drive. I will say, the system seems more stable now that it's back to HFS+ (less slow downs and less spinning beach ball of death), though this could be as a result of the GM being a newer build that the previous beta.

What’s the process you used to wipe your internal drive and recreate the fusion drive? I thought you just use Disk Utility? Or am I missing something for when I do this?

I didn’t download until the GM this time and I am so lucky and glad. If I had done it earlier and it changed my fusion drive I would be up the creek because changing it back is beyond my abilities. Since it’s a desktop it would be hard to carry in to the Apple Store for help.

Previous public OS Betas before High Sierra didn’t create such issues.

It's strange. I was able to upgrade my work computer to build 17A362a yesterday. But when I got to my personal laptop which is still running DP9 today, I can't find the High Sierra golden master anywhere. Has it been pulled?

Previous releases didn't include a new file system...

Disk utility can't be used to create a core storage volume (which is what s fusion drive is). You have to use the command line tool diskutil. If you can overcome the intimidation of the command line, the steps to create a fusion drive aren't that bad.

A word of warning for anyone ether with or going to update their OS when the release version comes out, If their Hard drive formatted as APFS and they have a bootcamp partion then there are problems booting from windows back to mac os as windows cannot find an APFS boot volume. The only working option is to use the Option key when restarting and selecting macOS as the boot partion

Thanks for the warning. I suspect, this will be fixed in an upcoming Bootcamp update. But Apple is known to be really slow on that side...

Would have thought we might have had a update GM candidate in the last 2 weeks. however just Looked in Apple Store (US) and their quoting in tech specs that new Mac come with high sierra, also it shows high Sierra it top bar of store menu. High Sierra page states coming 25:09 (Still) However Australia store shows 26:09 (Time difference)

You shouldn't have given up. It is set to download on attempt 68.
Actually I farted after 67 and it started. Must do 67 and a fart for install.

Seems like using the recovery mode appears to finally install the latest GM beta for me. Never had to do this in the past. Anyway for those still having issues and not being able to install the GM and your last install was beta 9 you can use the steps recommended by others here to get it installed.

1.) Download the GM beta profile and install it. It should open the App store, now select open on Mac OS High Sierra. You should now see the beta installation, install it. If the beta profile does not open the app store for you automatically open safari browser than paste the below link which will open the app store for you with the option to download the GM:

macappstores://itunes.apple.com/app/id1209167288

2.) After the reboot is complete restart the computer again but as soon as the screen goes black hold Command R for some time then let it go.

3.) Select the option to re-install the OS. This whole process will take a while.

Once the whole process is complete you should now have the GM installed.

No problem. Just encountered similar issue with the 10.13.1 beta version 3 would not install no matter what I did. But once they released beta 4 today that installed from the app store fine and resolved my issue now on the latest build. Odd though as I've never encountered these issues going back a few years.
