Hi everyone, can I just check with someone very helpful, I have Developer Beta 9. Is there an update as my App Store is not indicating that there is?
Same here. MBP (Early 2015)

You guys need to re-install the beta profile, and click the link to re-download the full installer from the Mac App Store...It has been posted several times throughout this thread. It should not be too hard to find if you go back a few pages.

So, SSD or Fusion drive people should wait on upgrading to High Sierra for a later update (maybe I'll go back to waiting for x.x.3).

Fusion drives actually don’t get updated yet, which is a bit unfortunate because they have the most to gain from APFS.

On a 2017 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, it was not optional for me. I never saw any options and it automatically upgraded me to APFS when I installed the GM candidate.

This is the model that I have...how's it working for you so far? Does it feel pretty stable...?

Say what now? My Fusion-drive was converted during first installation and been APFS ever since. It was back in Sierra when Fusion-drives was excluded.

If you want to install macOS 10.13 GM (this release) you need to reformat back to HFS, it won't allow you to install on an APFS formatted Fusion Drive.
Read through some of the last pages, it's there.

Yes, I'm running the public beta on a Fusion Drive.

Yes, you're understanding correctly. You'll (we'll) have to erase the Fusion Drive, recreate the Fusion Drive with Mac OS Extended (Journaled) formatting (HFS+), install the OS, and restore your data from backup.

The GM Candidate will not install onto a APFS-formatted Fusion Drive, it will not allow us to create an APFS-formatted Fusion Drive. It will only install to HFS+ Fusion Drives.

Are you able to create a bootable installer as required? Ever since going to AFPS on my Fusion drive iMac, Disk Utility won't erase any external drives and essentially fails each time. Consequently, I can't seem to create a bootable installer to even be able to do what I need to do.

I feel I must be missing something...

I am on 2014 retina imac with 1 TB fusion drive. On the first beta my system was changed to APFS. I downloaded the full installer and when trying to install the GM, I received the error message that it could not be installed and to follow the directions for fusion drives and APFS etc... Been playing hell trying to create a bootable external drive as all my terminal commands came back as "command not found". I had to use "install disk creator" from another machine. So...in the meantime, I rebooted into recovery, and chose to reinstall and now my build number is 17A362A. Not sure if I should follow apples instructions or wait it out.

It seems to run OK for me. I haven't noticed any bugs.

If you're jumping through hoops to get this installed, you may be better off waiting for the official release. I've not noticed a single difference in features or performance. Obviously, usage will vary.

I've noticed new Activity Monitor icon thats it :D

Well, I did nothing different than the last two times but this time the install is going on. Some weird kind of bug but I have no idea how to even report it.

Not working at all for some users including myself. I have gone through the process about 10 times now. I have a developer account and have downloaded the GM profile each time during all my tries. It accesses the app store then downloads another small installer for the beta which it installs then reboots the computer. But checking for updates afterwards reveals nothing, the full GM is never downloaded and nothing gets updated as build still shows 17A360a. Maybe related to some models, I have MacBook Pro 2016 15 inch space bar.

And I am doing this on a 2011 mini with 8gig ram and a 256G SSD. Yours is newer and more powerful so???

Looks like I will stay at my latest beta, which works fine for me, until the next iteration comes out that will not require a HFS+ reformatting. Too bad as we were not informed of this when we had the option of formatting everything to APFS in the beta. Not a major problem at this point. If other solutions come up, we fusion folks will be listening.

My guess is that Apple was hoping to having APFS on fusion drives ready in time, but it just wasn't there yet. And instead of offering the ability to upgrade to APFS (even if it's optional), they just left it out until they [Apple] can guarantee no data loss will occur during or after the transition. As such, since APFS won't be supported on fusion drives once High Sierra is officially released, the configuration to do so was removed entirely in the GM - thus forcing the need to reformat as HFS+.

Regardless, hopefully by .1 or .2 APFS will be supported. Most iMacs now come with fusion drives, so brand new machines not being able to use the latest and greatest file system is kind of a big issue.

for all of those that have fusion drives and need to create a bootable installer then try this.
Delete any installers that you may have on internal and external drives. re download the installer again. insert a pen drive.
make sure the install app is in the applications folder and your pen drive is called untitled. Run this command in terminal

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra\ beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra\ beta.app --nointeraction &&say Done

i haven't try to install HS GM Candidate on my raid0 setup because all the times that i did try with previous beta versions, i was only able to boot my raid0 on HS using only HFS+ , i tried all different methods and combinations, cloning etc but i could only create a raid0 array in APFS but none bootable. nice job apple so if i want raid on HS then it has to be on HFS+ FS, the only option for now is to install HS on a single SSD or M.2 drive formatted as APFS then create a separate raid array on APFS. that is if you want raid on APFS.

Mini-recap for those who haven't been following 9 pages of comments regarding High Sierra and Fusion drives.

Basically, I'm in the same boat: fusion drive, first public beta changing me to APFS, downloaded GM (with this link: macappstores://itunes.apple.com/app/id1209167288 as you can't do it via Updates), but now can't install GM. However, I was able to create a bootable external (but had to use another computer as Disk Utility fails and used the terminal command above), but before installing I need to do a time machine backup (which some 12+ hours later still hasn't completed).

So now, I'm thinking of doing a recovery reinstall and waiting it out as well, rather than a full wipe. RetinaiMac did you basically follow these instructions to do so?

Yes. I just hit Command+R and did a reinstall, no wipes. And now it says im on 17A362a. And, oddly enough the problems i was having before with sleep and the folder with question mark have ceased. Although since this latest update, i have not tried creating the bootable drive from this machine again. My time machine backup took about 4 hrs and i dont have crap on this machine. 997.88g free of 1.12tb.

I'll give it a go then. I too have had the sleep and folder with a question mark issues. Other issue has been Disk Utility not working to reformat external drives. Hopefully this resolves all.

Your idea of recovery install worked to get me to GM as well. My sleep issues and folder with question mark issues don't usually materialize for a bit. But hopefully, they'll be gone too. TBD and thanks!

I have been trying for days its not showing up for my MacBook Air that is already getting pubic betas of Sierra (last one was Sept 2nd)

For whatever Apple doesn't send their GM version via the typical update. Instead, you have to either re-enroll your device into the beta, reinstall the beta profile and install the GM. Or you can simply click copy and paste this to get to it:

I have tried this one and it just goes to black screen and stays there...I have to power off then back on and it recovers back to beta 9
