I wonder if this'll fix my pet bug - a minor one, thankfully - wherein auto-brightness is enabled after every restart. (I found it doesn't work well on days when there's patchy cloud, so the ambient lighting goes up and down; the OS' response is too pronounced for my liking, going from "oh, it's midnight" to "you want a tan?" lighting)

I just now enrolled in the macOS beta to test out the GM... and Software Update is also just now showing a "macOS Recovery HD Update 2.0" which seemed to appear right after I installed the macOS Public Beta Access Utility app needed to get High Sierra.

Is this coincidence or is this Recovery HD Update part of High Sierra? Because the description says it is recommended for all users running Sierra.

EDIT - the Recovery HD update finished installing, no restart needed. I think this was just to make the Recovery partition aware that High Sierra is a thing so when HS goes to install, it can update the recovery partition correctly. Just my guess.

Due to the 32 bit cutoff, I might wait this one out. Don’t feel like upgrading Microsoft office since I don’t use it often; and I have a bunch of old projects in FCP 7 still that I haven’t moved up to 10.

Looks like a solid release though. Have to work this stuff out before I upgrade. Not sure what other apps of mine will stop working.

macOS High Sierra runs 32-bit apps just fine (you are probably thinking of iOS 11). Apple has only stated that Mac App Store will stop carrying 32-bit apps early next year.

Going to wait until .1 due to APFS. There are no user-facing features that are a must-have anyway.

And High Sierra is the last OS to run 32 bit “without compromises.” Probably means warning dialogs in 10.14 and support dropped in 10.15.

Sorry folks but if you read developer instructions you have to manually download this via the beta utility. I did this and the new installer shows as created 9th September, then download update from there. In process of installing let you folks know the result on the other side...Also note this is not the GM but a GM candidate maybe be more updates yet

Perhaps it's a model-dependent issue? It remained for me at the last update. (Not this one, as it's not yet showing up for me)
Perhaps you need to SMC reset? I had this problem on earlier betas, but it disappeared about a month ago.

Last time there was a HS beta that popped up the download page (as opposed to appearing as an update in the App Store), it stacked my MacBook, showed a black screen and a no entry sign, and required a restore.....

Hi guys,

I am a member of the public beta tester program. When I launch app store, all i see is "macOS High Sierra Beta" available for download.

How do I know this is the GM candidate build and not the previous beta that was up there until today? I can't see any info on the page that gives a build number etc and I haven't downloaded any of the previous betas before today.

Many thanks!

I’ve not downloaded it yet, unfortunately my laser is running so I can’t reboot my system at the moment.
Have they finally re-enabled the iMessage iCloud syncing with the release of the GM? I really miss that from the early betas.
