Does this update fix the mba 2018 screen brightness issue ?
I though of exactly the same question when I read about the update. Then again the change log only talks about changes in the default brightness and I'm afraid it could be a hardware issue and not fixable.

I hope I'm wrong though. I haven't had my mba enough to be able to tell a difference.

I am using 2010 mbp 13inch , wtih this comp i am fine with brightness as most of the time i am indoor. I will upgrade it with mba 18 but not sure to go for it.

I am using for for browsing, music and spreadsheets mainly.

I need a super silent computer, do you hear the fan noise ? is it as silent as fanless macbook ?

I haven't heard the fan yet, so I definitely consider it super quiet. But if it has a fan inside it will spin under load eventually.

I am going on a trip to southern Europe soon where I'll be meeting clients in bright environments and sometimes outside, so its brightness will be thoroughly tested.

I saw the mba in the shop next to mbp with 500nit specs and macbook 300nits. mba was so far the lesser dim notebook even though it was advertised as 300nits same with macbook.

However, the shop I compared is too bright surrouded with fluroscents and many other devices around ,so it is not a real room comparance.

colours are ok as long as you are not putting it aside p3 macbook pro.

I do not use my computer outdoor at all..

after a few days of testing 10.14.4 it feels like a beta. apps crashing, even a kernel panic. this baby is not ready for primetime.
Thanks for the warning…
I was tempted to update, but then looked at what is "improved" and apart from always welcome security stuff, nothing I need right now.

*sigh* Where is your QC Apple?

Does Mojave still look blurry/poor on non-4K monitors?

I have a 2015 13" MBP connected to a Dell U2715H running 10.12.6 and have been waiting for Apple to fix the fonts/anti-aliasing issue(s).

Ever since Mojave came out last Fall, I've had an issue with my LG Ultrafine 5K monitor connected to my MBP 13" late 2016. There would frequently be a blank display, which required unplugging/plugging the USB 3.0 cable. Worse, if I didn't do this and chose to ignore the blank external monitor, the MBP would sometimes freeze and require a reboot. A trip to the Genius Bar was entirely unhelpful and a Google search revealed only an apparent handful of people with the same problem.
Thanks to the current update to 10.14.4, this bug seems to be fixed. The release notes mention fixing an issue with external displays for the Mac Mini but the update seems to have addressed the issue with my MBP as well. It only took 6 months ...

I used the delta to update to 10.14.4.

But the delta does not update gatekeeper.

The new gatekeeper (also released today) is version 164.

To tell if you need it or not you can use this command in Terminal to find your gatekeeper version:

/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Print CFBundleShortVersionString" /private/var/db/gkopaque.bundle/Contents/Info.plist

If it is lower than 164 you can get the new one here:

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...s2svedajwd6fey3c3y35/GatekeeperConfigData.pkg

to update to 164.

It is supposed to update automatically but quite often doesn't - so it is useful to know how to do it manually.

Thanks!!

@tywebb13

Could you please provide me the direct link for safari 12.1 (13607.1.40.1.5) for HS? which I think is the latest
Thank you very much in advance

I installed Mojave on hfs+ on a HDD and cloned it to a 2018 trackbar macbook pro and it smokes.

The 10.14.4 update bricked two of our iMac Pros... anyone else having trouble? Working with Apple to recover them now. They KP on boot in the network driver somewhere.

Any news?
How they handled it?

I'm not getting the option to upgrade??
OTOH, perhaps upgrading isn't a good idea, given some of the problems I've seen in this thread.
Is the upgrade still available??

Build number is 18E226

There are 2 new versions now - builds 18E227 and 18E2034.

Anyone can get 18E227. Just redownload the full installer.

I've updated now to 18E227:

You can only get 18E2034 however if you have a newer computer, eg., 2017 imac:

18E227 seems to have fixed the repeated gmail login notifications problem that plagued many who had installed 18E226. With 18E227 you do get 1 notification - but that's it. After that it stops annoying you like it did before.

As for gatekeeper, shortly after the release of 18E227 both gatekeeper AND xprotect were updated to versions 165 and 2102 repectively.

You can run these commands in terminal to see which versions you have:

/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Print CFBundleShortVersionString" /private/var/db/gkopaque.bundle/Contents/Info.plist

/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Print CFBundleShortVersionString" /System/Library/CoreServices/XProtect.bundle/Contents/Info.plist

and if they are lower than the new ones you can get them here:

Hello,

Not found:

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...dwjku5dqjs4d3m5du/XProtectPlistConfigData.pkg

is there a newer update?

Thanks
Camelia

I find it odd that those on 18E226 are not being prompted to update. I downloaded the installer and now I am on 18E227 on MacBook Air 2017.

Gatekeeper was 165 and XProtect was 2103 prior to update and afterwards as well.

EDIT: I have no clue why, but the system feels smoother after this update. Interesting. Launchpad scrolling, scrolling and tab navigation within Safari have noticeable improvements for me.
