Just got off the phone with Apple. They are aware of the problem causing the news application to crash. They are working to push an update over the next few days that will resolve the problem.

Just upgraded. iMac won’t make a sound now. Something is wrong.
Try this- Launch Activity Monitor, search for "coreaudiod", double click on it and select "Quit". It will reappear and hopefully work as expected.

The 10.14.4 update bricked two of our iMac Pros... anyone else having trouble? Working with Apple to recover them now. They KP on boot in the network driver somewhere.

Same for me! Also iMac Pro. It also happened on every beta for the 10.14.4. I had my fingers crossed that a full installer would cure the issue.... NOPE!

I just updated to 10.14.4 and the new News 4.2 starts but quits after a few seconds. Does anyone else have this problem?

Yup - many, many people it seems, including myself. It's crashing on iPhones and iPads as well. For all the hype, how could Apple have managed to booger up one of their key selling-points to the upgrade?

I just updated to 10.14.4 (from 10.14.3) on a 2018 MBP with Vega 20, and Graphics Card: High Perf. is now constantly ON.

After several attempts of restarting the computer, and manually running the maintenance scripts, my MBP is now stuck with "High Performance" GPU on at ALL times, regardless if I'm on battery or connected to power, and regardless if I have many apps running or not.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

IGNORE!

It was the recent Compressor update that caused this.
For some reason several Compressor instances was running in the background. After disabling the Compressor instances in the Compressor preferences, I am now back on Integrated graphics.

I'm excited. Mojave has been the most stable and interesting release in a very long time.

The macOS Mojave 10.14.4 update includes bug fixes and improvements, improved the stability and reliability of your Mac and is recommended for all users.

Safari

  • Adds Dark Mode support for website that support custom colour schemes.
  • Streamlines website login when filling credentials with Password AutoFill.
  • Allows push Notification prompts only after interacting with a website.
  • Adds a warning when an insecure webpage is loaded.
  • Removes support for the expired Do Not Track standard to prevent potential use as a fingerprinting variable; Intelligent Tracking Prevention now protects cross-site tracking by default.
iTunes
  • Shows more editorial highlights on a single page in the Browse tab; making it easier to discover new music, playlists and more in Apple Music.
AirPods
  • Adds support for new AirPods 2.
More
  • Supports Air Quality Index in Maps for UK, US and India.
  • Improves the quality of audio recordings in Messages.
  • Provides enhanced support for external GPUs in Activity Monitor.
  • Fixes an App Store issue that may have prevented adoption of the latest versions of Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iMovie and GarageBand.
  • Improves the reliability of USB audio devices when used with 2018 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini models.
  • Corrects the default screen brightness for MacBook Air (Autumn 2018)
  • Fixes a graphics compatibility issue that may occur on some external displays connected to a 2018 Mac Mini.
  • Resolves WiFi connection issues that may occur after upgrading to macOS Mojave.
  • Fixes an issue where re-adding an Exchange account may cause it to disappear from Internet Accounts.
  • Fixes an issue where AOL passwords may be frequently requested in Mail.
Thanks. I missed all of that in the article.

Updated the iOS & macOS today, but I can't find the News app in my iPhone, Mac, or Mac App Store. Completely disappeared. In App Store it appears like if it were intalled, but when I press the button "Open" it says something about Restrictions Enabled.

China.

Ah, my good old mid-2010 Mac Pro. Shoved an RX580 in it and it's now Mojave compatible and still updating without a problem and running like a champ. I doubt Apple will ever make a Mac as good as this again. (Although fingers crossed for a preview at WWDC!)
Rx580 ftw!

Nice to see the USB audio bugs fixed as well as the system freezes when opening Messages.app or PDF's in Preview.

anyone experiencing Problems with Mail.App and Google Accounts after the update to 10.14.4 ? I am being asked for my password all the time an cannot access my E-Mail anymore using Mail.App

kind of nervous to update since Ive been reading all these issues should I wait another day before I do so? I have a macbook pro 2018 model

Curious. I often run Beta version and generally have no issues that are not expected. However, upgrading to MacOS 10.14.4 has resulted in my two internal optical drives disappearing. Not listed in System Report & eject does not work. I have a MP 5,1.

UPDATE:

Nothing to do with update - the SATA connector had come loose
All sorted & 10.14.4 running ok - except no updated Nvidia graphics drivers....

No support at all for videocards from Nvidia? Solving the driver-trauma? I soon get crazy about this. Have hardware that can’t be used in my Mac Pro 5.1.

Yeh, interesting. Update to 10.14.4 is out? Who cares when stuck in 10.13.6 because Apple denies Mojave driver support for their very own devices with nVidias in it.
Oh Apple, what disgusting behemoth haveth you become?

I love the autofill feature from apps like messages, it's not perfect yet though, just the other day I needed to fill in a response code from a message I got, if you click on the autofill message under the box it fills the first box with the whole number instead of 1 number/letter in each box, but now I just type it while the (messages)box is under it, it works well in iOS though.

Anybody know a website that supports dark theme to test this out?

You could try out Night Eye, there's a trail available.

Google has non standard login procedures, maybe you should complain there.
I had this before as well, but decided I couldn't cope anymore both with Google and the issues within Mail regarding Gmail.

Okay, for those unfortunates with iMac Pro’s having “kernel panic reboot after install holidays”... re-install from interwebs by holding both command AND option keys +r. apparently using both keys forces a reload of the update on the recovery partition.

It worked for me.

FYI, the installer is downloaded from the internet, there's no full installer on the recovery partition, it's only a few 100 MB in size so it can't hold the ~5 GB full installer.

Edit: Maybe I misunderstood you, seems like you said exactly this.

Don't know why but I seem to have lots of external USB devices disconnecting problems, since the last beta, same in this one.

Glad to see this is supposed to fix wifi disconnects… I've been quite frequently having to turn wifi off and on again to restore network connectivity on my '18 MBP and I thought it might be a hardware issue after the speakers blew and had to be replaced under warrantee…

Can anyone check if uBlock Origin still works in Safari? The last update tried to disable it but you could re-enable it. I'm afraid one update is going to disable ad blocking for good, and I'm not installing that for sure.
