Totally agree. Dark Mode causes my eyes to have the "mini blinds" effect.

The old "Pro" apps ⎯ as I recall them ⎯ were good. But with this, I can already see on the horizon me switching back to Light. Finder is hard going. Mail, too. It's a shame, because it could work, but not without the ability of the end user to fine-tune it.

Also, the windows themselves. Everything has a fine lighter stroke line around it. It's horrible.

I just updated to 10.14.1 Beta, and while still in Dark Mode overall, you get this really beautiful simple window at the end of the update, as the mac is setting itself up. After you enter your password. The icloud and analytics windows you always see on an update.

Just a dark, plain window and the shadow.

I can't screenshot it, because it's before OSX kicks in. But it's beautiful.

Then you get into the OS itself, and the windows have these ugly fine stroke lines around them.

It's so anachronistic.

Dashboard seems to be broken for me - I'm using an old PC mouse with a centre click wheel button which is what I used to bring dashboard up (I hate Apple mice) and not only does it not come up, but doesn't with key commands either.

Download of Mohave was a complete disaster on my 2017 iMac - downloaded twice and both times lost all connectivity, bluetooth, internet, My Passport, keyboard/wireless mouse completely buggy, keystrokes incredibly slow, random message pop-ups, etc. etc. Finally after working through two Apple techs and a senior advisor, used Command R/Disk Utility - erased my HD and reinstalled High Sierra from Time Machine. SHAME on Apple for releasing this mess. MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP IF YOU’RE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO TRY THE DOWNLOAD LIKE I DID.

It took me TWO DAYS before I finally got it to work. Not exactly a smooth install.

It looks like I will have some work to do to see if all the programs and devices I use will work in this new version. It will also be interesting to see how it runs on a mid-2010 17" MacBook Pro. Do they even support 17" screens anymore?

I might have to look into running this on an external drive first to test it out.

It doesn't "seem like", it is a waste of perfectly usable hardware. My home-built Windows PC I'm typing this on now is from 2009. I built it with Windows XP x64, Upgraded to the Windows 8, then 8.1 and I'm choosing to stay here (supported through 2021). But I could be running the current Windows 10 if I wanted. That's two decades of operating system release support (and still counting).

I'm paying a premium for the superior build quality and OS and Apple is taking that away by not supporting their older machines that are doing exactly what they were designed to do...last.

I agree 100%! I have a perfectly good 2011 Mac mini server that Apple has deemed not upgradable that is newer than my custom PC and both are running quite well for their age.

Will I have any performance issues if I were to update on my late 2011 MBP? Base model w/ upgraded 8GB RAM

And speaking of Apple models that last, my PowerMac 7300 (bought in 1997) is still working.

Sorry for bringing this old thread up, but it seems that the dynamic wallpaper feature is not working on my mid-2013 Macbook Air, even with location services turned on. Is the feature not supported on older devices?
