My 2021 16" M1 Pro started up to an exclamation point in a circle this morning. Since I don't have second machine for the restore/revive process, I made an appointment with genius bar at my local Apple Store thru Apple Support's online chat. I've owned various Mac machines throughout last 10+ years and this is the first time the machine is bricked. I updated the machine with 12.1 when the OS came out 2 days ago.......

It might be a hardware issue? Could the SSD be defective?

You got unlucky. Apple do describe this kind of circumstance as "very rare". They should be able to fix it at the genius bar.

I just did the update on my 24” M1 iMac, all seemed to go fine. It was quite lengthy though, it took a good 15 minutes to install, several reboots and things.

It is still covered by the extended holiday return policy so I might just return it. This particular machine is actually the 2nd 16" M1 Pro I bought. I returned the first one because its space grey finish has visible pit holes and bumps out of box.

Bluetooth mouses seems to have more stutter than on 12.0.1. This is on both an intel iMac with a Magic Mouse and an M1 Air with a Logitech MX mouse.

I'm having huge issues with my MX Master 3 - which sucks as I got the business version so I could use the Logibolt thing as I was having issues with my Magic Mouse and interference. Since 12.1 its actually gotten worse.

I miss Big Sur! Only reason I have Moneterrey is because I have a 14" MBP.
