So.. the obligatory 'Safari is snappier' is justified right now :p
I posted this on beta 3, so yes a lot fasterr on M1 Macs.

Browser tests for this Safari Version 15.5 (17613.2.7.1.6)
Speedometer 2.0
M1 24" IMac = 342
M1 Max MBP = 350

Firefox 100 = 242/240 on both examples, still a bit faster.

Back in March I posted these results
M1 24" iMac latest beta Safari 15.4 - 285, Firefox 97.0.2 - 229
M1 Max MBP latest beta Safari 15.4 - 295, Firefox 97.0.2 - 229
Both on ethernet, 12.3 beta 5.

How come some trivial fixes of a podcast app and support for a display are packed in a 2.29GB update?! 2.29MB would be more realistic... (and environmentally friendly)

For my opencore Mac I’d hate to see how large it is now o_O

This is a nitpick, but they changed the icon for the US keyboard in the input menu to a generic "US" instead of the US flag. I can see why non-Americans using a US keyboard layout would complain about the US flag, but I liked having the flag in my menu bar.

Apple made a decision to distribute macOS updates as part of a large signed and sealed volume, apparently for reliability reasons. They probably got too fed up with machines crashing after an update.

It might be an inconvenience, but it can help for those users who happen, for whatever reason, to have parts of their installation that have been corrupted.

I’m still on Big Sur, will upgrade after 12.5 is released. M1 Macs have been rock solid, the only problem I’ve experienced is from Mozilla Firefox, it kills battery life.
Yeah, I am also contemplating waiting for 15.5 since my M1MBP has been solid with fantastic battery life! I can roll back thankfully since it is a max and not iOS device but still a lot of work…
Will await some feedback on 12.4 and see what it says.

Universal Control is not bug free. Amy Mac that can run Monterey, but should not have Universal Control can invoke the settings sheet for UC. That doesn’t seem desirable.
If you, eg on a 2015 MacBook Air, launch settings app and type universal in the search box you will be presented with Universal Control in the list of matches. If you click this you will be taken to the Display prefs and the settings sheet for Universal Control appears. It’s non functional, but you shouldn’t be able to get to this point if this is truest not a Beta feature anymore!

Indeed. Welcome to Apple software attention to detail in 2022!

Just updated to 12.4. Anybody have any idea what mds_stores is doing. It seems to be in excess of 100% cpu. Also 11 copies of mdworker_shared Maybe doing some kind of indexing? Seems to be settling down a bit. No back up to 126%.

Going to try a reboot.

If you prefer misery, have it your own way. But support for M1 Macs has evolved a lot since what you are likely using.

It sure is. Especially after every beta prompts you.
I know it has been the case, but, not today ... was waiting for the prompt but it started downloading and never prompted me, and I didn't take drugs nor drank ;)
would it be in a log file?
