If we install this GM, and a newer version is available on release day, will we see that version as an available update in the mac store?
I am curious to find this out as well as well as updates for official releases.

If the build reference is greater but there's no significant difference to the software: I should not expect an update.

This minor cosmetic bug occurred when I reused the old installer for the first developer preview:

(I doubt that both updates were exactly the same size, and I doubt that the progress for each download was truly so perfectly in tandem.)

I received an email notification for the IOS and Sierra gold master releases. To get them, I logged into the Beta site and following the instructions for each OS to download and install them. Everything went perfectly just following the instructions. I have to say, the I don't notice a huge difference besides the new Siri icon in my dock.

1) I'm pretty sure you have no idea what most users are thinking. Psssttt. He never claimed or asked for new hardware in order to run a new OS.
2) I AM pretty sure that almost every person in the MacRumors forums knows this. Again, he wasn't saying that.

He was simply proclaiming his disappointment in the fact that Apple made no Mac hardware announcements yesterday. You really need to not take things so literally.
Reads Title:
Apple Releases macOS Sierra Golden Master to Developers

Then posts about hardware. Seems legit.

Have you done any troubleshooting to see what processes are using a lot of CPU time? This isn't a widespread bug in the OS.

See my posting tonight about my iMac overheating.
The process that is the culprit in my case is PhotoanalysisID. When I quit that process (which uses up to 170% of CPU) my CPU temps go down about 20 degrees F right away. This is the the process that analyzes faces for the new Photos app in Sierra. It is out of control. Photos in 10.12 is NOT ready for prime time. There are even some place holders that show up when you convert your library, etc. And this is supposed to be the GM?

That the process to scan your photos for faces is heavily CPU intensive isn't necessarily indicative of a bug.

Depends on how much it will tax the Mac. In my case that process made the Mac unusable and I had to stop it. I was very surprised because I have very small library for testing purposes (about 2 Gb) and it didn't progress at all during 4 hours which point I got fed up and killed it. Not something I would expect from GM...

Overall in my experience Sierra was very stable from PB1 all the way through and I didn't log one single problem. I don't see any reason why I won't upgrade my primary drive on the 20th.
Yep same here. And even SheepShaver is more stable than on 10.10./10.11. running the MacOS 9 emulation.

It affects the user experience, with macs running hot, becoming slow, high spinning fans.. going from several hours up to days

that's worse than a bug

Downloading it now on my work machine. GM should be stable enough for MacMail , Chrome, Skype, iTunes and Photoshop... I hope! :)

Edit: Works fine so far! No complaints! :) Fans are running/blowing and the temp is 72 degrees celsius.

Pros: Siri
Cons: Fans running, Slower, Wallpapers are ugly, LittleSnitch doesn't work

If I got that right the fans are only running in overdrive until all pictures are indexed properly?

Edit2: Fans stopped running, temp is down to 62 degrees C.

Something seems wrong with the bluetooth after I unlock my screen. The Apple wireless keyboard (latest gen) doesn't type properly, which forces me to disconnect and connect the keyboard again. Mouse seems to work fine so far.
The GM is pretty disappointing so far.

You didn't hold down the option key.

Didn't have to, no.
[doublepost=1473905533][/doublepost]Also my photos app is stuck. It works fine to sync pictures and all but when clicking on 'People' it says '1 picture scanned, more will be scanned once the app is closed and the mac is connected to a power source'.

The app has been closed for a day now and its still only 1 picture scanned.

Apple keyboard + mouse still keep messing up. Have to disconnect -> connect.
