Wow! What next, they will fix language switcher, and then fix the Universe so all people will live in peace? Good start, Apple!

Apple today released macOS Sonoma 14.3.1, a minor update to the macOS Sonoma operating system that came out last September. macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 comes a few weeks after the release of macOS Sonoma 14.3.

The ‌‌‌macOS Sonoma‌ 14.3‌.1 update can be downloaded for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Settings.

Today's update addresses a frustrating macOS Sonoma bug that could cause text to get randomly replaced while typing. There have been multiple complaints about the issue, which affected web pages and apps like Mail and Messages.

The problem has persisted for several months, and has been an issue through multiple versions of Sonoma.

Thank God! I was pulling my hair out over this one. Every frickin’ email was a frustrating adventure. What the hell took so long To fix this one???

I think it's fixed. For the last several hours, the Magic Trackpad 2 is smooth. No constant stutter, lag or sudden jump. So far! It feels like the way it works when plugged in directly. No mention on this. I guess sometimes Apple just fixes these things they believe is minor and get around to it when they feel like it I guess.

Forgot to mention, its not 100% fixed but the occurrences are minimal now.

Really wonder why every OS update from Apple takes an eternity to update. They need to streamline the update like Windows. Needs to split app like Apple Music as standalone and not part of OS update.

I don't even use Apple Music.
I just let is update overnight, so I never notice how long it takes..

Doesn't seem to be available here. I encountered that text rending bug for the first time yesterday.

It just (nearly) works....

M1 Mini. Got as far as about 10% on the progress bar on a black screen. Left it for ten hours overnight. Still in the same state. Re-booted it manually and it seemed to complete within about five minutes. Claims to be 14.3.1

Worse than rubbish...

Amazing this bug made it to production. Fix seems to have worked at least but its been a frustrating few weeks.

Still no fix for the Safari hover cursor bug though that seems to have been persistent through Sonoma releases.

Has anyone else noticed after installing 14.3.1 a fault with widgets and time synchronising across the clocks?

I have the analog and digital clock widgets on my desktop and they have been working perfectly since they came out (mostly) well after installing 14.3.1 I noticed, and this is across all my devices (Iphone, Ipad & Mac) the digital clock doesn’t stay synchronised with the system time, it will for example at 13:10 read correct and then even with the second digits working as they should the time will stick at 13:10, miss 13:11 all together and then catch up at 13:12 and this repeats constantly over and over!

The system time and analogue clock are working correctly, it just seems to be the digital clock widget that's affected.

I thought it might just be the Mac but no it's the same on my iPad and iPhone as well!

Anyone else noticed this?

It's not the only change. It's the only change specifically named in the Release notes. Along with "bugfixes" or something like that. Even so, it's a very inefficient update system, don't you think?

Your message is effectively "I don't know what it does, but it's inefficient." That's some fine logic there, Lou.

They need to fix Sonomas Aerial Screensaver issue. These things download by themselves and take up too much space.

I just downloaded the update, so here's hoping it actually fixes the text issue! I've been experiencing it pretty much every day, while using the Mail app.

You know, if iOS and macOS are having the exact same problems with editing that would lead you to believe that the two OSes are closely linked together and compiled at the same time with the same libraries and they are already testing cross platforming macOS on an iPad or dual boot options for your iPhone 15
