honestly as long as it WORKS like a computer, I dont mind the toy lookAnother year, another step in the transformation into toyOS.
Craig isn't gonna give up so easily, is he?

Sonoma is objectively better than Monterey and Ventura at this stage of development. Those predecessor OSes had some major bugs in the .0 release. But Sonoma has been smooth.Another yearly update cycle where a half baked OS gets released with tons of workflow breaking bugs
maybe safari 17 will bring you profiles on previous macOS versions ?Also taking the 'wait and see' approach here. I just updated my M1 Pro MBP to Ventura a month or so ago after initially hearing it messed up connections with the Apple Cinema Displays. While I really want profiles on Safari, I also need the stability on my daily driver.
I’ll still wait it out. I’m sure it’s stable as you say but I’m exhausted fighting with iOS 17 😆Unlike IOS 17 which used a late beta build at the factory for shipping, and later had to have a 17.0.1/.0.2 patch for security and the cloud transfer bug, MacOS had a normal beta cycle with 2 RC's. It is very solid public release when shipping today. Been using it on 2 Macs since WWDC.
macOS 14 (23A344) - September 26, 2023
We arguably needed a 'boring' macOS release, after the more buggy Catalina and Ventura. I personally did not suffer from the widely reported bugs, but it's clear a Snow Leopard-type release was needed.Sonoma is a solid update. Stable and smooth, but pretty boring otherwise.
I’ve thought about it, but I prefer the simplicity of the iMac and the colors.Mac mini with monitor? Not the same but a viable alternate for many. In fact, I prefer separate. Biggest downside for me is not having built in camera and mic. Keep answering the phone on the mini and crickets.
wow, CMD-R actually refreshes the software update screen. thank you apple from the "I can't see it yet" crowd!
To me, it's worth it for new wallpapers and password sharing.Sonoma is a solid update. Stable and smooth, but pretty boring otherwise.
Thank you!!Apple Customer Seed updated, too, so now folks can create USB installers!
In previous years the new Safari was released together with iOS but that didn’t happen this year.Do we have Safari 17 release or older macOS?
YES. Something tells me Apple's using Rosetta 2 to run .saver Screensavers because I've had a TON of issues with "Legacy" Screensavers gobbling up all my available Memory and grinding things to a halt.Public Service Announcement: in adding these new screensavers to Sonoma, Apple managed to totally break support for third-party screensavers.
So if you try to run non-Apple screensavers in Sonoma, you can look forward to all sorts of fun malfunctions, including blank screens, tons of dead/orphaned processes using zero cpu, orphaned processes using 100% CPU. I've even had the window manager crash completely, sending me back to the login screen.
It's... not good.
Apple is aware of the issues, but has no workarounds at this time, andappears to be intent on releasing Sonoma nonetheless...has released RC2 as the releasee version, which contains all of these bugs.

This isn't an issue on my Intel Mac mini, just my M1 MBP.
