Yep. I had major thunderbolt bugs on the version of Monterey that came with the M1 Max. Some hard kernel crashes whenever a thunderbolt dock was connected and the system wok from sleep. Those bugs persisted for weeks. And then when thunderbolt 4 docks came to market, there was a major bug with the Caldigit TS4 dock, so much so that they needed Intel to step in to release a new firmware for the Goshen Ridge controller (38.5 - > 39.1), and Apple updated its firmware on its end as well. So it wasn't until 12.5 that I finally had stability.Do the USB ports actually work this time?
Downloaded and already wishing to go back. I use several desktops with different wall papers on each. Now it seams it's just one wallpaper on every desk top, so you don't know whether to scroll left or right to get to where you need to go. Bloody typical of an apple cock up
I believe you can change the "show on all spaces" option on preferences > wallpaper.Downloaded and already wishing to go back. I use several desktops with different wall papers on each. True, it’s just an alias, as far as I know Feedback Asssistant itself is a part of macOS that’s always installed, regardless of whether you ever installed a beta version before. Enabling beta versions in Software Update only puts the alias into the Utilities folder. You can delete the icon from there but that's just an alias. The app itself is actually at /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/Feedback Assistant.app. I did try to delete Feedback Assistant from that location with terminal (and using sudo) but it won't let me.
Obviously not a big deal, just curious as to whether or not it would still be present in that location on a Mac that never had the beta/RC installed before.
Ventura really is that bad...At my therapist now. Will update when I get home.
Seeing any issues with Sonoma and the M1 Max?Yep. I had major thunderbolt bugs on the version of Monterey that came with the M1 Max. Ventura, I had major bugs as well, thunderbolt related, and USB ports dropping out aft er the system woke from sleep. Random kernel panics as well. It was so bad that I skipped Ventura until 13.5. 13.5 and 13.6 are good for Ventura.
I've been testing Sonoma since summer and it's been much smoother especially since around the last Beta release / first RC release.
Of course, your use case is different so you could test Sonoma on an external disk and see if it's stable for you before you upgrade.
It was iOS 17 that did it 🤣Ventura really is that bad...
First thing I did, made no difference, thanks for the tip thoughView attachment 2281887
You just have to uncheck Show on all Spaces.
Those posts are hilarious reads.Waiting for "haven't got it yet" messages incoming.
What happened to Apple‘s sense of style?
So far, nope. I've been testing for over a month. It's fine on my end.Seeing any issues with Sonoma and the M1 Max?
Sad for all MacBook Air owners that we've been left behind by this update![]()
I noticed that happening on the RC builds locking the screen or reboot fixed it for me!I dont know why any video/screensaver background has to require my menu bar to go white instead of staying in a transparent dark mode. Its sucks and isn't a good look when EVERYTHING else on the system is adjusting to dark mode settings except that.
Me either, but I was running the RC on another Mac and outside of one annoyance I don't know if it was the beta or intentional (clicking off a window makes your desktop and windows do some half ass expose thing that irks the **** out of me) it was fine - it's also not a remarkable update either. Wouldn't call 1 feature anything that a point update couldn't have slapped on thus not much to F up.Same here - I'll wait till at least .1 but historically I don't update until .2
