So I want to extrapolate from the timing that ADP would be supported by Monterey 12.6.2 and Big Sur 11.7.2, but await absolute confirmation on it. Plus, if they do support ADP, what are the actual requirements for it to work properly, like a Secure Enclave or T2 chip, and what if the machine has no such thing? Could wreak havoc on hackintoshes and OpenCore users alike, exposing an unsupported tier of user to a scalding failfest (i.e. locked out of iCloud). Maybe it would verify your machine legitimately can support ADP before turning it on, but if all legitimately supported hardware would, there's no guarantee of that either.

Can’t open files anymore.
Example: double click on an excel file, it animates the file icon like when it is opening but it doesn’t. To open it you need to open excel and use the file-open menu.
Same for photos with preview etc.
Rebooted already. Keeps happening.
After minutes when you forgot you tried to open a file it then pops up and open, while you are doing something else, causing also a distraction.
Look at your Activity Monitor against CPU for processes with high cpu%. Spotlight should be busy initially, but not for long.

I know I'm late to the party—just finished writing 5 pages for a final exam! This update is my reward I guess... Any major issues?

I wonder if Ventura is mature enough to upgrade to For the first time in a long time I didn’t upgrade my Mac when it came out. Just not sure if I trust it yet.
I am experiencing a bug trying to find and accept the new iCloud TOS.

I don’t think that’s the cause.. but it has been days since I updated to the RC anyway..
Then I would boot into recovery mode, bring up disk utility and run first aid on system/data volumes. Possibly you have a disk map issue or something similar causing disk access to be very slow.

Works nicely here. Freeform is actually pretty damn good. I have soooo many use cases for this and GoodNotes is pissing me right off on a regular basis with sync problems.

On a 2019 mid-year refresh 13" MacBook Pro running the Mojave OS. Should I update to this or stay on the older OS?

Odd. It points me to Apple ID settings, but all the options are grayed, and the privacy button gives me nothing. Should I just sign out and back in?

Apple today released macOS 13.1 Ventura, the newest version of the operating system that runs on Macs. macOS Ventura 13.1 comes more than a month after the launch of macOS 13 Ventura.

The ‌macOS Ventura‌ update can be downloaded for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Settings. Apple has also released macOS Big Sur 11.72 and macOS Monterey 12.6.2 for Mac users that are not able to update to Ventura.

Today's macOS Ventura update introduces the Freeform app, designed to allow users to sketch, draw, and write on a blank whiteboard-style canvas that can be used with friends and colleagues. It also includes Advanced Data Protection for iCloud, expanding end-to-end encryption to iCloud Backup, Notes, Photos, and more.

There are improvements to search in Messages, an option to play a sound in the Find My app to locate AirTags, AirPods Pro, and Find My network accessories, plus there are several bug fixes. Apple's full notes for the update are below.

For more on all of the features that are available in the macOS Ventura update, we have a dedicated macOS Ventura roundup.

Still not running Ventura. Hasn't felt like the right time to upgrade yet. Plus, I'd need to reinstall all of my MacPorts. There is an automated process for that, but I really don't want any show-stopping issues right now.

I only had a minor issue with emptying the Trashcan. The dialog didn’t stop telling me it was emptying the Trash and I had to manually kill it. It seems fixed now.
