ipsw's are for apple silicon macs. The latest ipsw's are listed on https://mesu.apple.com/assets/macos/com_apple_macOSIPSW/com_apple_macOSIPSW.xml and there is only really one new for Ventura at https://updates.cdn-apple.com/2023S...C7668DD0/UniversalMac_13.5_22G74_Restore.ipsw

It doesn't list any new ones for Monterey or Big Sur. MrMacintosh has links to older ones at https://mrmacintosh.com/apple-silicon-m1-full-macos-restore-ipsw-firmware-files-database/

Sonoma betas are also getting ipsw's

I think however for Big Sur and Monterey you would be better off using the full installers anyway instead of the ipsw's because they are more up-to-date. The full installers are in post #4 in this thread : #4

at this point I’d skip ventura and go to Sonoma

It’s much smoother
That would be my plan as well, if my Mac was compatible. I’m stuck with Monterey forever on my Mac, but I can’t complain because it runs pretty smoothly.

But if I had a modern Mac, I would do that, I would skip Ventura altogether and jump on the first or second major update of Somoma (e.g. macOS 14.2)

Oh, it must be so satisfying to see that only the e-cores take care of such tasks, being, you know, efficient and all… minimum heat and power consumption for maintenance tasks.

How are you able to see if just the e-cores are handling this task? Using iStats Menu?
In Activity Monitor, show the CPU History.

Here is mine during the optimization.

Hopefully this fixes the bug introduced in 13.4 where (mostly) LG displays attached via any form of DisplayPort are no longer able to stay asleep.
Problem described here (Apple discussions), here (Apple Developer), and here (reddit).
Word is Apple has marked this bug as "Works as currently designed." :(

It would be great if MacRumors and other Apple news outlets publicized this problem!

Yup, iStat Menus.

Is it? I wondered, bc Sonoma looks like a total snooze-fest from a features standpoint. Thought they might be shaping up a stability release like leopard/snow leopard etc.

…my ventura usb installer just completed on the one machine i’m taking past mojave. but maybe i’ll hold out & catch the next train…
Yeah I really hope Sonoma will be more of a stability release than a feature-rich update. We really need something like a Snow Leopard release right now. Ventura hasn’t been the best for me and I’ve been facing some few bugs with it :(

I've also got iStat, where do you see that? I can see a per-core graph if I click on the CPU label and then hover over the usage section(User, System & Idle), but it doesn't seem to be labelling the cores for me?
I think you've got to look at the "CPU History" window in Activity Monitor in order to get a per-core graph with labels for each core. However, I believe the graphs in iStats follow the same order as they do in Activity Monitor so once you see how they're arranged in Activity Monitor then you'll be able to figure it out in iStats.

Indeed. A new Snow Leopard / Mavericks / Sierra stability kind of update. Now with interactive widgets on the desktop!

I’m really hyped for Sonoma, it’s been the surprise of the WWDC ‘23

I don't know the arrangement for every Mac/CPU, but I do know on the M1 Pro, the leftmost 2 bars are the e cores.

From what I’ve read from the Sonoma beta‘s, it seems to be a solid release come October.

Does it fix the bug where Desktop randomly disappears from Finder favorites? Happens to me constantly. Super annoying.

I notice OneDrive is missing in Finder Favourites under certain conditions. Very annoying because that's where I save all my work.
