Apple today released macOS Ventura 13.5, the fifth major update to the macOS Ventura operating system that was released in October. macOS Ventura 13.4 comes a month after the launch of macOS Ventura 13.4, an update that brought minor features to the Apple News app and bug fixes.

The ‌‌‌macOS Ventura‌‌‌ 13.5 update can be downloaded for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Settings.

According to Apple's release notes, macOS Ventura 13.5 introduces important bug fixes and security updates. Apple recommends that all users install the software.

There are no notable feature changes or standout bug fixes in macOS Ventura 13.5, and work on the operating system is wrapping up. Apple is shifting its focus to macOS Sonoma, the next-generation version of macOS that's coming this fall.

Installed it today on my i9 iMac waiting before I install on my M2 Mac. Install on iMac went fine, but it was one of those LONG updates, many reboots and last couple of status bars really crept along slow. The only time the fans on my iMac start up is with Apple updates and this one was no exception. So for an update with basically no description they seem to be replacing a lot.

What model and config do you have?
M2 MAX 14" MBP, 96RAM and 2TB storage. At the moment, pretty vanilla config. cause I was troubleshooting a Caldigit TS4 - another issue, but this is on CalDigit - so the machine is in clamshell mode and driving an LG monitor, but that's about it. Of course, it has not done it since I posted that. I'll keep watching. I have not done serious troubleshooting on it yet, so it could be me, but it began after the update, so I'm a bit suspicious.

Mine froze shortly after just booting a few months ago and I had to force restart it, first time ever on an Apple Silicon Mac for me. Didn't find anything in the logs.. Never happened again though, but I sure don't want to experience it again.

Ventura really hasn't been good to me, lots of issues and bugs that took months to get fixed. Let's hope Sonoma is better.

Thank you all who installed .5 and reported the issues, it still seems that Ventura is not in a good enough shape to become my daily driver. I'll stay on Monterey which is still up to date with security updates a bit longer so I don't have to worry about any issue and happily use the machine weeks without restarts whether docked or on the couch.

only the most recent macOS version gets all security updates and receives them in a timely manner

if you're really worried about that sort of thing

etc....

at this point I’d skip ventura and go to Sonoma

It’s much smoother
I went with Sonoma PB1. It was OK, but some of my critical apps weren't ready for it, so I had to roll back. I'll go with the 13.5 update (I'm doing the Carbon Copy Cloner backup right now), but I'm waiting for the general release of Sonoma.

There is a strong warning on the Apple Beta download sites that strongly suggest do not install on a primary computer, phone or iPad etc.. That is why it is a Beta because the bugs are very much still in the code.

I installed the Beta versions on my iPhone 13 mini, iPad mini v6 and 2021 M1 MBAir. These three are my secondary devices.

That should be a given and it would be better to put that warning in places that link to it in addition to the site. I see people that try a Beta, their production software doesn't work and they don't know what to do. I have a test Mac that I use on any macOS version that I plan to upgrade to and test the OS and my application software on it before updating my production systems.

I have Time Machine backups but why lose a few hours restoring from backup?

Thanks, yea security worries me. I have upgraded to 13.5.1 and it's a big surprise to me that I experience zero issues and all the services and stuff I have configured works (brew services, etc). Well, all in all I can only recommend to upgrade from Mojave to Ventura.
