Please explain, I want to know how to fix this problem.

If you're problem was the same as mine (having to wait up to 8 hours to being a movie rental), I found in my case it was due to using google's dns server 8.8.8.8 for my internet domain name service. (something about Google and Akamai streams I'm guessing). Once I reset my base station to use my provider's dns I could begin watching a rental within 30 seconds or so.

Very interesting. I will need to try this

Hopefully fixes the lag issues I've been having on mine

i had the exact same problem. it affected itunes streams and hulu streams on my ipad/iphone. coincedentally enough when checking speedtest, the server i connected to throttled bandwidth after about 4pm. i went nuts for about a month thinking my ISP was throttling bandwidth after 5. i bought a docsis 3.0 modem hoping the bonded channel tech would fix it, had a service call, reset the airport, turned off wireless and connected via ethernet. nothing. finally on a whim i changed the DNS to my ISP's DNS and everything was perfect.

strange though, i've had google DNS since it was announced and it was only in the past 6 months that streaming services went wonky.

I wish they would change the way my tv shows are displayed under my computer header. I wish it could be the way it was. Then I would see one 'castle' entry then after I click, all three seasons. I hate how long the list is now that I have MASH, the mentalist, csi NY (love sela ward) and others. Like to see my movies in a grid by posters since I take the time to add them to my dvd's. And yes, I do send feedback ... no answer yet.

Ditto, I'd get pauses where I'd have to go back a few frames then play again.

I am so annoyed that there is still no way of not showing all my movies on the apple tv.
Certain films I don't want available for my son to watch. On the old appletv I could just untick it and it won't sync. Now it just greys it out, but it's still available on the appletv. Anyone found a work around?

I was hoping they would update the low quality netflix streaming problem with the new update, but it looks like they didn't. Nexflix videos keep reverting back to a lower quality after playing back high quality for only a few seconds. They should allow for bigger streaming buffer or something because I wasn't having problems with my Roku on my iternet connection before.

Have they fixed the purchased movies problem yet? You know... the one where you have to wait 2 hours for it to download to watch a "streaming movie" after you purchase it? I wont dare purchase another movie until there is confirmation that they fixed it.

I have plenty of downstream bandwidth, but I have found that from time to time I have to power cycle the ATV2 to get it to realize that it already has enough of the movie buffered to start playing my rentals. It would say "Loading" forever sometimes, but after a power cycle my movie has "29 days left" and is ready to play. I hope this bug is fixed.

updates???

Has anyone actually found what the update did, not what it should have done...

Had this problem until I increased the multicast rate on my Airport Extreme. The Apple TV appears to be too eager to trade off bandwidth for signal.

Enable parental controls/restrictions.

Except there is no way of setting the ratings on iTunes.

Me, too. After watching a 20 minute show streamed from my iTunes library, I have to hit the menu button (or any other button) repeatedly for 10 to 20 seconds for the dumb ATV to snap out of its stupor and do something/anything.

The lack of responsiveness of this new ATV is almost making me regret buying it. Geez.

I wish they would fix the fact that the new ATV only allows HD streaming. The older model allowed you to choose between standard and HD and save the extra $1 rental fee. More squeezing of loyal customers.

Settings - General - iTunes Store - Turn off "Rent High Definition"

Been there since it was released.

Airplay youtube from iPad to ATV2...Yipee. Unless I have been asleep and its been there all along. Anything is possible...>ESS

Release notes:
Apple TV Software Update 4.1.1 features
TV resolution fix: Addresses an issue that causes some high-definition TVs to incorrectly display at 480p.
Download fix: Addresses an issue that may cause a movie or TV show to be re-downloaded.
