Has anyone actually found what the update did, not what it should have done...
Release notes:
Apple TV Software Update 4.1.1 features
TV resolution fix: Addresses an issue that causes some high-definition TVs to incorrectly display at 480p.
Download fix: Addresses an issue that may cause a movie or TV show to be re-downloaded.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8C148a)
Hopefully fixes the lag issues I've been having on mine
The new Apple TV is the worst Apple product I have ever owned. It needs a hell of a lot more than a minor OS update.
Hardly. I would have returned it if I didn't also need an airport express replacement (though even in that capacity its inferior to my old AE).Sounds like you had expectations _way_ beyond the product's capabilities?
LOL! Google, the Sharon Osbourne of DNS!I had this problem too until I quit using Google's DNS Server (8.8.8.8).

Had this problem until I increased the multicast rate on my Airport Extreme. The Apple TV appears to be too eager to trade off bandwidth for signal.

Well, for starters, it wiped my rental of The A-Team.
I doubt Google resolving the DNS vs. some Cable company is going to cause/solve any problems with Netflix quality.
As I was saying before my post was deleted.....
I can watch video on my iphone and send the audio via airplay to an airport express. But I cannot do the same from my macbook.
This is so bizarre that an iphone can do something that a computer cannot.
Always a good idea to reboot after an update. Netflix is probably confused about something in the cache between the before and after status of the update.
Get a real media player, there are so many great players on the market.damn. not surprised though - 3 major software revisions on gen 1 and an entirely new product and still not fixed. oh well.

Do remember that most people don't experience these issues. best place for specific issues you may experience is directly to apple with as much information as you can provide about what might be specific to your set up which causes the issue for you, but not for Apple when testing...
I love my Apple TV, it's more of a "it's got potential" purchase and I can't wait for more functionality to come on line, but it suffers with zero issues (well, once I worked out that the intermittent signal problem was being caused by a dodgy hdmi cable!)
Since when can you update an iOS device without rebooting?
