I'm thinking of getting one of the MacBook Pros to try out. Haven't owned a MBP since about 2010.
I don't feverishly keep up with Apple product updates as I used to in the mid-2000s, but it's always great to see new hardware pop up.
How did the base 15" gain 12,5% (1h) battery life from just an updated trackpad?!![]()

OMG that keyboard on the new Macbook is atrocious!!! I hate it. I honestly thought some people here were exaggerating when they said it sucks but it really does SUCK. Too flat, almost no travel. Hard to type easily on it. If they ever implement that on the Macbook Pro I will have to get an external keyboard.
One thing that really stinks about apple even allowing a 7200 RPM HD as a base option is that it stinks for buying iMacs in the used market because I guarantee there will be a bunch of Retina iMacs floating around with the base configuration in the future.
Sorry fusion drives are a joke. I'll stick to pure SSD.
Happy i got my 13incher when i did...
Whats your alternative? To drop an extra grand for a terabyte SSD?

To The Apple Veterans: Generally how long will the older Macbook Pro 15 in. with the traditional trackpad be available for or will it be pulled from the shelves immediately?
Apologies if somebody already answered this but I'm due for a new Macbook Pro and I hate the new Force Trackpad.
Fusion seems intriguing as a hybrid drive done right, a friend of mine also said its indistinguishable from SSD performance (unlike when I tried a Momentus XT hybrid drive back in 2010). It's really just that it's a ticking time bomb. Getting to replace a mechanical hard drive in that difficult to repair rImac I would imagine is going to be a PITA

I have a 1 TB fusion Retina iMac. For everyday use its honestly not much different than an SSD.
The way I look at it IF for some reason down the road the mechanical HD part goes then Ill have to decouple the drives and rely on an external for the bulk of the storage. The amount of money I save going with the fusion was way too much to pass up when I purchased it since it was on sale.
Support for up to 5120-by-2160 resolution at 60Hz on a single external display (model with AMD Radeon R9 M370X only)
Not bad.
Get the base 500 gig SSD and a 2TB external or wait for the MBPs to hit the Apple refurb shop and save some cash.
