That hasn’t worked for me, alas 😢Just take them out of the bra and let them connect to your apple device via Bluetooth. Listen for a few seconds then when you put them back in the bra they get updated. At least that’s how mine got updated.

Explain how it’s a nonsense comment. AirPods Max are literally a expensive piece of crap.Thank you for your nonsense comment.
Sorry, MacRumors won't let me downvote anymore, otherwise I would've just left it at that.
I can't fathom how anyone could dent aluminum this thick. It's not a soda can. The tapping really is annoying, but I just account for that and exercise caution while taking them out of their case.I’ve had my APM for two months and have used them every day. They tap together gently when I take them out of the case or put them in. I am unable to understand any use case by which the aluminum cans could get scratches or dents.
Yup. My experience, too.ugh. can't get mine to update. Connected them to iPad, played music, took them off and let them sit. Both iPad and AirPods Max are plugged in and iPad shows them as connected but it's been 2 hours and no firmware update - still says 3C16. Switched them to iPhone and repeated - headphones are sitting and waiting....
I'm trying this now, since nothing else has worked. However, surely the ability to receive a firmware update can't really be tied to putting your APM into the case. Some people NEVER use the case, so requiring the case for all updates makes no sense. We'll see if this works for me. I'm in the US--east coast.Mine updated, but not overnight. I left them outside their case, connected to power, and connected to my iPhone (also connected to power, charging overnight). When I woke up this morning, I checked Settings and they were still at 3C16. I said “oh FFS!,” unplugged them from power, and put them back in their case, thinking this is a staged rollout and I’m not in line yet for this update (I live in Mexico). By the time I went downstairs to make coffee, they had updated. So putting them in the case appears to be a trigger for this process (which mirrors somewhat the update process for AirPods Pro, where they‘re usually in their case plugged into power and they “magically” update — eventually).
Yeah people are making this issue out like it's an exclusive to AirPods Max problem.
Pretty much all deep cupped headphones will suffer from this issue, it’s just most don’t have removable cups/or are difficult to remove and as such you can’t see the condensation.
When you think about it though, it’s going to be difficult/impossible to avoid this on deep cupped headphones, as you are putting a warm object into an enclosed space with no ventilation to vent out the warmth/heat.
Mine were connected to my phone and plugged in. No case. Updated during the night.I'm trying this now, since nothing else has worked. Changing a bulb in your home isn't going to fix the battery problem in the headphones. That battery is going to deteriorate and age much faster because it's constantly, and I mean constantly, draining battery when not in use. That's a garbage design choice.Well the complaint had that as the point of their argument, that Apple is a green company so make a different point if you're just going to act like the person responding is the one going out of their way to reach for an obscure answer when it's the person with the complaint who made the argument in the first place.
And just objectively it's true, replace a 100w bulb with a 2w LED and over the course of a day, in worst case, maximum power drain scenario, you'll be saving about 50 times more electrical energy. And like I said this is in a case where the airpods are constantly draining and you have to leave them plugged into the charger non-stop all day long. Regardless of a that, I just wanted to do the math to see for fun, but the first guy made the point about it not being green so obviously the response was related to that.
It’s like you people can’t stand the idea of anyone improving a product? I’ve got lots of awful products by a litany of manufacturers I evaluate for a living. Want to buy them off me for $550 a pop?Well said my friend, well ****ing said!!
Good question. I started to reply that it's because the APM don't have a full-fledged OS built-in. But that's also true of the HomePods. So maybe it is simply the same reason as why my APM and their associated AppleCare don't show up in my list of devices at mysupport.apple.com: Apple looks at all AirPods as mere "accessories." Accessories don't merit appearance as a device on mysupport and they don't merit a way to update their firmware on demand via an app. Narrow-minded for AirPods but outrageously so for a product as sophisticated and expensive as the APM.I realize this is not a useful comment but why is updating the firmware an obfuscated process? Even the HomePod has a way to selectively update... some really strange choices by Apple around these headphones specifically.
Mine were in exactly that configuration all night and they did not update. Go figure. Maybe they really are doing a rolling launch of the update and those of us on the east coast get it last. Or maybe it's just random, like it is for Alexa devices. Not worth wasting any more time over this. They will update when they update. Sigh.Mine were connected to my phone and plugged in. No case. Updated during the night.
Is it sad that new APM firmware is a source of excitement for me? Yes. Yes it is.
I understand the process can be frustrating! I'm used to the "it will happen when it happens" process from my AirPods.Mine were in exactly that configuration all night and they did not update. Go figure. Maybe they really are doing a rolling launch of the update and those of us on the east coast get it last. Or maybe it's just random, like it is for Alexa devices. Not worth wasting any more time over this. They will update when they update. Sigh.
weirdly enough, their entire airpod line has this update styleI realize this is not a useful comment but why is updating the firmware an obfuscated process? Even the HomePod has a way to selectively update... some really strange choices by Apple around these headphones specifically.
So just for folks who are new around here, "Safari is snappier" in response to any update is a very old MacRumors joke. Since the introduction of Safari, people have noted anecdotally that anytime it or the underlying OS has gotten updated that browsing the web in Safari "seems snappier," usually with no objective metrics of any kind, and even when no changes relating to Safari were included. Thanks for the report. How are you using Safari on these? They don't have a screen. Maybe you mean "Siri going to get internet information", and if that is faster, that seems great!

at least Jobs wasn’t afraid to push his teams to DO better.
I am sick of both you guys arguing over whether to even ask for improvement. Seriously just log off and go and enjoy your product and leave this for the place where people actually voice their desires. All you guys seem to want is for everyone to be silenced.
so put on your pro maxes. And then turn on noise canceling, problem solved. And when you have a concern or a need for help with a product you’ll be welcome back.
or stick around and try to have some empathy for people having challenges.
No. That’s my point. Maybe a gut check to see “was this post necessary? Will it enrich the conversation ?”. Including this, is necessary ?
In the EU here and I had "problems" updating since yesterday.
Connected only to my iPad and let both devices charge for 1-2 hours (APM outside of the case laying flat). Got the FW update after that. Haven't tested much but battery "drain" has so far been 0.5-1%/hour in the bra/case.
Safari definitely feels snappier though.
I'm in the UK and I have tried everything mentioned, but I'm still on the old firmware. Perhaps it's not available in all countries at this time.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone in the UK has been able to update to the latest 39 firmware?
