BS. What the hell is with people making excuses for stupid design decisions by Apple?
Well the complaint had that as the point of their argument, that Apple is a green company so make a different point if you're just going to act like the person responding is the one going out of their way to reach for an obscure answer when it's the person with the complaint who made the argument in the first place.

And just objectively it's true, replace a 100w bulb with a 2w LED and over the course of a day, in worst case, maximum power drain scenario, you'll be saving about 50 times more electrical energy. And like I said this is in a case where the airpods are constantly draining and you have to leave them plugged into the charger non-stop all day long. Regardless of a that, I just wanted to do the math to see for fun, but the first guy made the point about it not being green so obviously the response was related to that.

Hope this fixed two main issues: inconsistent battery drain and sudden disconnection due to APM restarting by itself
If you want plastic headphones you can certainly by some great ones much cheaper. You may not have researched this at all but there are some other well engineered headphones in this price range and even some over $3000. So it’s fine if they are expensive for your budget, don’t buy them. But they are certainly not alone in the higher priced market, nor are they the most expensive
don’t worry, i own a sky blue and currently waiting for replacement because it comes with a crackling sound and squealed like mandrakes from Harry Potter, i swear you don’t want to hear it.

Yes. Posted pics in one of the other threads - mini-dents, even. Got a replacement pair (for a separate issue), but yes - they will dent/scratch.
I’ve had my APM for two months and have used them every day. They tap together gently when I take them out of the case or put them in. I am unable to understand any use case by which the aluminum cans could get scratches or dents.

If it doesn't add a button combo to completely turn the headphones off, they can keep their crappy headphones. Imagine being a green company and not allowing people to turn off your headphones, which results in them wasting tons of battery life when not in use. Come on, Apple. Be smarter.
I bought mine on Amazon and returned them for this reason and others. In the end, I just couldn't justify the high price. They sounded very good, but they weren't satisfying to my ears.

Replace one 100w bulb in your or a loved one’s home. Congrats, you just saved more energy than this “feature” will ever save.
You miss his point. It's not just about saving energy. The batteries will eventually die and since there's no way to use them wired without power, they'll be useless. I don't want to be forced into buying a replacement based on Apple's whim. All of my current bluetooth headphones can be used wirelessly without requiring power and most sound slightly better. I have headphones that go back decades that I still use. I'd like that option with the AirPods Max.

I have had mine since the first day, wear them all the time and have yet to have even the slightest bit of condensation.
I've had condensation, I walk to the train everyday to get to work. I work up some heat, get to the train, pop off the ear cups, and wipe away the condensation. Scandal averted!

After the update, my AirPods Max sound great as before, and seem to have less connectivity issues with my iOS devices.

However, now with my M1 MacBook Air, music sounds like old tinny recordings. Really weird...it's only on my Mac.

Do you have Mac? I’m curious if when you put them in the case (I refuse to refer to it as the bra-case!) the Mac doesn’t see them while in it. I think that might be a source of some issues including the battery drain. At least the AirPods Pro which have been more reliable connection/stuttering/etc wise, when in the case they can’t really be seen by the audio output icon on the menu bar.

I’ve never used them with my Macs. Bluetooth is off in fact on both my old MBP and Mac Mini.

I stopped using the case entirely after the first week, doesn’t serve any useful purpose to me as I only use the APM in the house. I don’t think they make great travel headphones, what with the limited folding and (minimal) battery drain. For the specific purpose of travel headphones, I find the XM4’s far more practical. I use the XM4’s every day at work (key worker).

If you guys are complaining that Apple didn’t fix the “cutting out” or stuttering, clearly shows you don’t know How to use your idevice. go to Bluetooth settings, find your device be AirPods Pro or max tap the circled I, then scroll down until you see the “connect To _____” switch it from automatically to when last connected, do this on all your devices, except the one you want to prioritize.

Problem solved. It’s a great feature but if you have your ipad/iphone/Apple Watch/mac book devices all together it decides to choose which ever one is “playing” any sound or notification. It’s annoying but a minor inconvenience that’s easily fixed.

Am I the only one who just can't get the APM to update their fw? Still on 3C16 and no matter what I do (factory reset APM), turn on/off wifi, use ipad/iphone, restart devices whatever the FW just won't update.

How do you get APM TO upgrade firmware?
what I did was to use my my APM‘s is for 15 minutes then I put them in the holster on charge connected to my phone. My phone then disconnected from the headphones as the headphones had gone to sleep. I went to bed and seven hours later when I checked the firmware, they had updated

Same here. I’ve tried leaving the headphones connected to iPhone and then iPad, and no update as of evening time. Will leave them connected overnight and hope they update then. I’ve never had to wait this long for other AirPods to update... Hmm.

Somone further up the thread mentioned that they had low battery and they were still on the old firmware. They thought to themselves "probably need to be at 50 percent" (like the iPhone does) and they then checked back on the firmware after 50 percent and it had updated. Hope this helps :)

Someone further up the the thread mentioned that there's did not update until it got over 50 percent charge (like the iPhones do with updates).

Yeah people are making this issue out like it's an exclusive to AirPods Max problem.

Pretty much all deep cupped headphones will suffer from this issue, it’s just most don’t have removable cups/or are difficult to remove and as such you can’t see the condensation.

When you think about it though, it’s going to be difficult/impossible to avoid this on deep cupped headphones, as you are putting a warm object into an enclosed space with no ventilation to vent out the warmth/heat.

It's been fully charged the entire time. I even left it connected the entire night, but still no update happened.

Can't get them to update.
Tired:
- repairing
- all combinations of iPhone and APM luged and not plugged to power
- Listening to music and then leaving them aside
- in and outside of case
:(

Are you in europe by chance? German here. I wonder if this is a staged rollout.

From Canada here.
Tried everything possible to get them to update (yes I really want them to update because of all the current disconnecting and low battery issues).
Left them on the charger overnight, tried everything from connecting, plugging, unplugging, pairing, unpairing, etc and still no update.
As some other users eluded to, could this be a staged rollout?

Mine updated, but not overnight. I left them outside their case, connected to power, and connected to my iPhone (also connected to power, charging overnight). When I woke up this morning, I checked Settings and they were still at 3C16. I said “oh FFS!,” unplugged them from power, and put them back in their case, thinking this is a staged rollout and I’m not in line yet for this update (I live in Mexico). By the time I went downstairs to make coffee, they had updated. So putting them in the case appears to be a trigger for this process (which mirrors somewhat the update process for AirPods Pro, where they‘re usually in their case plugged into power and they “magically” update — eventually).
