To be honest, 50-50 with this firmware, when play and pausing music both earbuds activate uneven time.

Can anyone comment on background noise cancellation improvements on phone calls? Can that even be improved with a firmware fix? above-referenced fanboy reddit flyer notwithstanding LOL

Anyone else having issues with the AirPods connecting to your device when they’re charging? The audio constantly switches to my AirPods even when they’re in the case.
I have that problem with my airpods max and its only with them 2 questions 1. Were you able to update them and 2. If you did did the update fix that?

Spatial audio still sounds crummy to me on the Max. Not sure what the Reddit guy is talking about.

Unfortunately, data transmission over RF, whether cellular, WiFi or Bluetooth, is limited by frequency and bandwidth…that’s just physics…as much as I’d like it too, and I’m a fan of Apple products, they still need to obey the laws of physics…
Airplay goes over Wifi so there should not be significant bandwidth limits

I don’t use the head tracking feature but I do notice a significant improvement in bass. It sounds much richer for me.

I’m actually getting cracking sound on ANC and transparency mode on my airpods pro..how can i fix it?
You are probably encountering the fatal flaw of AirPods Pro that many of us have encountered. You will need to reach out to Apple support and see if they will replace them. They do for many perhaps depending on the manufacture date.

Anyone experiencing cracking sound after the update? I am getting this from Airpods Pro and Airpods Max.
My launch AirPods Pro started crackling about 3 months ago. I took them to Apple and they replaced them, no quibbling. Which was great as it meant fresh batteries too (you keep your original case).

My AirPods Max have been flawless thankfully, apart from the first couple of weeks at launch when there was a serious idle power drain issue, swiftly fixed by firmware update thankfully.

I just noticed my Airpods Pro updated, and the reason I noticed wasn't that I was even looking for it, it was because since the last update there was a bug (or what I thought Apple could have meant as a feature), that it didn't reconnect to the last device if it wasn't an Apple device. I use my Airpods with Windows and Android, as well as iOS/iPadOS, so it was annoying that I had to open the BT menu on Windows every time I wanted to use them, even if the last time I also used them on that same laptop. Well this is fixed with the new firmware, it behaves the same way it did before the last firmware.

So I have had my APMs for about 45 days. I use them 100% for Atmos movies. Is this firmware update good or bad for this? Currently on 4C165 firmware

You’ve got no choice either way, but thankfully it’s fine, I’ve seen no difference for my usage.

So far, I haven’t been experiencing any issues. Before the update, this would happen to me multiple times per day but it hasn’t happened since they were update.

Can anyone speak to the call quality for AirPod Max after this update? Especially any improvement to background noise handling? Thanks!

I just hope it makes my AirPod Pros work again. They've been very strange the last few weeks. They connect and disconnect constantly. Noise cancellation and Transparency mode will not stay on.
Had them checked out at a Genius Bar and everything looked okay. No idea what is going on with them.
Could it be a Bluetooth fault with the item th air pods pro try to connect to?

Should be illegal to push firmware updates without both release notes and an option to decline.
I use my AirPod Pro to connect to a Bluetooth radio when not using them with iphone. Yesterday the would not connect to the radio any more.

Also the Find My warning pops up every 10 minutes or so while driving down the road saying my Air Pods area few miles behind me.

Thanks Apple for breaking what was fine.

Not about the new firmware, but what does that little chirp mean when you first put in your AirPods? I mean, I’m not crazy, right? It makes a little chirp.

I found two things in NYC this week:
1. “With you” for closed case APP now works on the older case model. It always worked on the newer magnetic case. However, still now notify when left behind.
2. Noise cancellation for super loud sounds - we were at a singing diner - worked amazing. Voice leak has increased - but I feel like this is the case with ALL of my headphones - Sony, Apple, and Bose. Presume it’s safety related.
